Shodan seeming to overhear the comm dialogue spoke up, “..What no! You idiots you ....you can’t lower that field its dangerous!” He said but was too late.

Suddenly the power drain on the station almost immediately ceased. Sparks flew from blown out conduits nearby but lighting quickly returned to normal operations. NEs outside were heard shouting in surprise as if expecting an explosion of some sort but nothing like that materialized and soon cries of ‘someone shut off the dampening field on deck 15!’ and the like came up, a new sort of chaos erupted outside the room almost like concern, wonder, and perhaps even some fears.

Shodan though scrambled for something in his pocket! Pulling out a small handheld box he threw it aside in disgust, from the looks of things Forgue could tell it was some kind of small personal dampening field. He then looked at the XO and CSO. “..You idiots!! Do you got any idea what you have done, fools all of you! Let me by or I swear I’ll see Starfleet beat you all down to whatever low ranks they got!” He said trying to push by and ignoring the XO’s question of the artifact on deck 15.

“Well, I have a good idea,” Simon said simply. “High probability what you had in that field was a life form. It was trapped in the dampening field, and so was feeding off of the only source it could get - your power supply,” he said straight, seeing the small box being tossed. “And if you don’t answer my question, we have other ways to find out,” he added, knowing that the Engineers and Science team on that deck would have a field day if it was indeed a new type of life form. “Our scientists are very good at their jobs, after all, I won’t give it too long before they know what it is you bought aboard, commander. I would be more concerned about your own position if I were you,” he said plainly.

“So, what do you know about it, or are you just blindly taking things from planets whether or not they belong to you?” he asked, this time with a more direct tone, one that he usually used in interrogation rooms back when he was in Security.

Lieutenant Simon Starr, XO

Seeing he couldn’t barrel his way past Starr, Shodan stepped back defensively. “..It is a life form of course, but one we found alone on a nearby lifeless asteroid. Scans seemed to indicate it had been abandoned there over 100 years ago. We we first got it here it too seemed lifeless until we began to examine more closely. We found it reacted to nearby plant life and other organic matter. Things like these..” He said holding out his hand showing a series of organic brown pellets. “..we found it reacted strongest to plant based matter. As it grew it began to siphon off our power reserves, at first it wasn’t a big deal, but as it grew the draws became more and more. So we rigged up a suspension field to keep it from growing further, we.....we didn’t expect it to react like it did in still growing faster still! By then we were in too deep to end the suspension program and weren’t sure what kind of life form it would hatch!! That thing could be dangerous to your crew Commander! You must let me by so I can attempt to study it and assess its needs!..” he said.

Lt. Frogue listed to all the conversations and knew to keep his place. The chain of command must be maintained. He waited for further orders.
