“So, looks like the problem is pretty serious. I do have a theory, however,” Simon said to Shodan. “I do have another team that I sent to investigate something else. He seemed to have left that little detail out of his story, and now it was time to find out why.

As this time, Lt. Frogue walked in. “I was told you might need some help sir” said Frogue

When Frogue came in Starr nodded and said “Yes, I was just informing Shodan of a discovery that was made on the way here about a curious artefact,” he mentioned. “Have you been to deck 13?” he asked Frogue.

“No sir, I have not been assigned to that level” answered Frogue.

Mazi tapped her own badge before Jones could. =^=Mazi here, Sir. we are about to lower the forcefield on the artifact now and see if we can figure this little critter out. Please stand by.=^= There was a bit of caution in her voice, but confidence as well. This wasn’t some whim, they were doing it with a much caution as they could.

Hearing Mazi’s voice come over the comms in response to the artifact, Simon studied Shodan for a moment longer to see how he reacted. And he was starting to get a theory. If he was right, he would need to be prepared. “So, tell me more about what you found in the beta quadrant, Shodan,” he said casually.

Shodan seeming to overhear the comm dialogue spoke up, “..What no! You idiots you ....you can’t lower that field its dangerous!” He said but was too late.

Suddenly the power drain on the station almost immediately ceased. Sparks flew from blown out conduits nearby but lighting quickly returned to normal operations. NEs outside were heard shouting in surprise as if expecting an explosion of some sort but nothing like that materialized and soon cries of ‘someone shut off the dampening field on deck 15!’ and the like came up, a new sort of chaos erupted outside the room almost like concern, wonder, and perhaps even some fears.

Shodan though scrambled for something in his pocket! Pulling out a small handheld box he threw it aside in disgust, from the looks of things Forgue could tell it was some kind of small personal dampening field. He then looked at the XO and CSO. “..You idiots!! Do you got any idea what you have done, fools all of you! Let me by or I swear I’ll see Starfleet beat you all down to whatever low ranks they got!” He said trying to push by and ignoring the XO’s question of the artifact on deck 15.

“Well, I have a good idea,” Simon said simply. “High probability what you had in that field was a lifeform. It was trapped in the dampening field, and so was feeding off of the only source it could get - your power supply,” he said straight, seeing the small box being tossed. “And if you don’t answer my question, we have other ways to find out,” he added, knowing that the Engineers and Science team on that deck would have a field day if it was indeed a new type of lifeform. “Our scientists are very good at their jobs, after all, I won’t give it too long before they know what it is you bought aboard, commander. I would be more concerned about your own position if I were you,” he said plainly.

“So, what do you know about it, or are you just blindly taking things from planets whether or not they belong to you?” he asked, this time with a more direct tone, one that he usually used in interrogation rooms back when he was in Security.
