With the power drain on the station going on, it was no surprise Shodan looked flustered. He was in a difficult situation after all, and Simon didn’t hold that against him. He had learned that one does not always meet people at their best. “Our Engineers are already investigating the issue with the power core. I thought I’d come and see you myself and let you know we’re here,” Simon answered calmly. “When did this power drain start?” he said, appreciating that Shodan was busy. He didn’t want to ask too many pointless questions, but getting an idea of any changes when the drain started may give them something to start with. He hadn’t forgotten about the artifact the crew members told him about on the way here, but he asked in a way that suggested he had just arrived and needed to be filled in.

”..Fine fine good to meet you. As for when this power drain started? Why it started the moment we turned on this stupid singularity core I tell you! Shoddy construction and programming, ‘top of the line’ my arse!” he spat. Utterly avoiding any mention of the artifact the XO knew about on deck 15, in fact Shodan seemed down right cagey about avoiding such information leaking out.

Simon deliberately didn’t want to overplay his hand at that point. So nodded along as they spoke. “And who installed the singularity core?” he asked. He had a theory, but wanted to confirm it by asking that first, but he hadn’t forgotten about the other possible cause. He hoped one of the crew had arrived on Deck 15 to have a look at the device. If the person responsible for the installation of the singularity core was the same as the one who brought the artifact, then it was definitely something to consider.

”..We did of course! But those idiots out there working for me obviously screwed something up in installation. I hope your engineers are far better trained!” He humphed. Clearly lying through his teeth but trying it hide it and failing.

Simon nodded toward Shodan and said “Well, let’s see how their doing,” and tapped his commbadge. =/\=Starr to Miz’uki, how are the repairs going? Find anything interesting?=/\= he asked.

“So, looks like the problem is pretty serious. I do have a theory, however,” Simon said to Shodan. “I do have another team that I sent to investigate something else. A possible cause of the power drain. He tapped his commbadge again. =/\=Starr to Lieutenant Jones, any progress on the artefact?=/\= he asked, watching Shodan closely for his response when he asked that question. He seemed to have left that little detail out of his story, and now it was time to find out why.

When Frogue came in Starr nodded and said “Yes, I was just informing Shodan of a discovery that was made on the way here about a curious artefact,” he mentioned. “Have you been to deck 13?” he asked Frogue.

Please stand by.=^= There was a bit of caution in her voice, but confidence as well. This wasn’t some whim, they were doing it with a much caution as they could.
