She stuck the three masks she found on her belt and started in the room closes to the ladder she had come up. As she found able bodies, she would send them down the ladder. Anyone that couldn’t move on their own, she’d take as she reached them. Though it occurred to her that any able bodies should get masks and help her out. Sighing, she stepped into the first room.

Fortunately Mazi found that the deck was a single lab room, it also seems this deck was evacuated at some point so there were no wounded, walking or otherwise to send or get help from. Entering the first and only room, she found an.....interesting sight.

That being a giant 12x15 shaped floating brown egg like thing in a suspension field in the middle of the lab. Scans showed it was the source of the power drains and was equally covered by a heavy dampening field which was blocking further scans. A series of power cables ran across the room to an amped up series of auilary power generators to then connect to the egg shaped device. Consoles lined the room scrolling by and flickering here and there with information a mile a minute.

Mazi walked around looking at the egg. As she felt her breath start to short, she placed one of the masks on to get her breathing back to normal. Then, slipping it off, she contacted the Chief. =^=Chief, Mazi… I’m standing in front of… something. But I think it’s the cause for the drain. We need a couple engineers and maybe a scientist or two to help junction this to a separate power supply and NOT the ship’s main. I think I can rig up a parallel power line straight to engineering that could alleviate the draw on the entire ship.=^= She paused looking at how much was hooked up. =^=There is a lot here, Chief… were you aware?=^= There was an edge of concern in her voice. If the Chief hadn’t been aware, then chances are, it hadn’t been done right. That was the cause of the issues on the ship. And she didn’t like that idea at all.

As Mazi remained transfixed by the egg, she might not have noticed the android, Eve, approach. Moving quickly to her side, Eve also visually evaluated the egg, deciding eventually that “It resembles a gift I was once given in the Academy. Only this one was for a celebration known as Easter and was made of chocolate.”

“GRACIOUS!” Mazi jumped. The engineer immediately chided herself for letting Eve sneak up on her. Shivering as it occurred to her something or someone far worse could have been in the android’s place, she smiled finally. “I doubt this one is made of chocolate or in celebration of a long ancient holiday.”

“Pity,” Eve replied, somewhat cryptically for one who neither celebrated holidays or could enjoy the rich delights of chocolate.

Arthur fell–unceremoniously–out of the Jefferie’s Tube. Clambering to his feet, he moved over to join both Eve and Mazi. “I am curious what this is. I’m also afraid to find out.”

Kala hadn’t been able to keep up with the Android Eve but eventually, she had appeared from the same direction as her, pulling the science pack back to her shoulder looking rather hot and flustered. “So what do we have here then?” She asked looking around for anyone to explain the situation to the clearly fatigued Trill.

“We have an egg,” Eve replied, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

As the others showed up, Mazi glanced around and moved so they were all a good distance from the egg shape. “I don’t know exactly what it is, but it’s definitely the cause for the power issues. It’s pulling way more than the current setup is meant for.” She walked around it again and glanced at the lines going to and from it. “I think…” she cocked her head slightly. “I think we can reconfigure the lines to make the power come more directly from the Core and less on the power output meant for this location, alone.” For a couple moments she murmured and looked around again.

She started speaking out loud, then, though now it was just her mind figuring things out and not actually meant for anyone in particular. “So if those lines are shifted, and that conduit split that load and this one…” she glanced to each section in turn as she tried to suss out how to reroute the item while saving the huge drain it was causing. “Though, if it was moved to Engineering, it would probably be much easier.” She laughed and continued to wander the room trying to see how things could be salvaged here. She was careful not to touch the object, though now and then she did touch a cable or line while in her mind she linked it back to its source. The whole time, her antennae were waving back and forth as if following with their own tips, the line of reasoning her mind was following.

As Mazi concerned herself with the physical architecture of the power network to and from the egg, Eve moved over to the bank of terminals and scrutinised the rapidly scrolling information in an attempt to decipher something useful from it.

Though Mazi had probably already done so Kala had placed her science kit on the side and opened it up, she produced a TriCorder and was scanning to confirm everything the other woman had said and also to see if she could find something she may have overlooked. While she did she spoke out loud. “If the egg, if that’s what were calling it is pulling to much power wouldn’t we risk it doing the same to the Core? If we plug it in we could cause more issues, how about taking it away from the station? Give it a standalone power source to drain?”
