“Ensign,” he greeted as she came to a stop. “How are you finding it since leaving the academy?” he asked, she was early, after all. He decided to take the opportunity to catch up one with one of the new juniors on the ship, and Simon had started off in Lilliana’s position, fresh out of the academy and on their first assignment on the ship.

Lilliana let out an internal sigh of relief. Since he was talking with her at length, she must be early, as she had intended. Thank goodness. Lilliana smiled. “Feeling fortunate Sir. This ship’s a beauty. I can’t believe I got assigned to a ship like this on my first time out. I’m still pinching myself to make sure it’s real.”

Vronclon finally appeared. “Apologies for my lateness. It will not happen again.” The Romulan then went inside and sat down and nodded to the other people assembled.

Ensign Vronclon, Security

The NLt began the briefing. “..So looks like we’re headed to station thats reporting power losses of unknown origin. We’ll be expected to be beaming over to help provide security to the teams and keep order if needed to calm the local crew. No real intel on whats causing the power loss yet but thats what we’re heading there to find out. Any other questions?” He asked.

Vronclon raised his hand. “With your permission sir, I do have some questions. First, You say that there might be a power problem. Well we beam over in full suits just incase or have an O2 mask at our side?”

”..If you feel the need for a suit or breather take one, but there shouldnt be a need, up to you..” The NLt said.

“Secondly: I guess I might be able to understand that they might not know that actual problem to the power but they should have given command their best guess. What is that guess?”

”..Thats just it the loss of power has no obvious source, we’ll need to investigate more once on site..” He said.

“Thirdly: Why would the crew be a problem? They should know that in space stuff happens and they are trained for this very exact thing once a quarter. What do we know about the crew? Who leads them, Do they have any weapons that we need to be aware of, that sort of stuff.”

”..Much of these crew are new to space travel and life. To have their first and only station have problems, especially one tied into an artificial singularity is worrying the less stout of mind crew. They are unarmed and peaceful folk generally speaking..” He said.

“Fourthly: What are our orders as of right now when we beam over besides protecting the crew and keep order? Can we use stun if a confrontation gets to much for one team to handle, Can we employ riot control measures once there or when a threat happens which might hit us all at the same time on the different levels which will negate response time and back up forces?”

”..I’d prefer to talk any problems down, but if you need to stun people to defend yourself or others you are so authorized. As of now there isnt any expected threats but if such occurs we’ll have reaction teams on standby for beam over..” He said.

“I am not here to cause a scene Lieutenant. I am here to save the lives of my fellow security members and myself and if I can, the crew and it’s inhabitants.”

Simon listened quietly to the briefing. The NLt was doing a good job with the information, it seems Arthur had at least filled him in after the meeting as he was unavailable to brief the staff. “This is first and foremost a rescue mission. That doesn’t mean things won’t go wrong. That’s always a possibility,” Simon piped in after the questions were answered. “Hopefully, the only thing you’ll be using phasers on is a potentially jammed door, if even that is a problem,” he said matter of factly. He then waited to see if there were any more questions from the security team, and let the NLt answer any further questions that came up. The department was in good shape and he was happy to see his old department doing well.
