Kala smiled as she fell into step with the Lieutenant “Thanks I’d love to have the company, its nice to meet new people” She said as they left the room and into the corridor which was a little busier than usual. “So have you been on board long? What’s it like, the crew, the ship the captain?” She asked now having Trax’s full attention and pumped to have someone as experienced as he walking her around. It was clear she had a million and one questions.

“Its always nice to gain new friends and comrades.” Trax agreed with her. “I have been on board for roughly a year I believe. The crew and ship are fine assets to the fleet. The captain is a capable and a great officer.” Trax answered her questions the best he could. As they closed on the lift as they stopped and he pressed the call button. “You know what I will take you to the science section for your meeting. Then I will head to lunch.” Trax said with a small smile. As the car arrived as he got in the car after the others exited the lift. “Deck 13 science lab 1.” Trax commented quickly. “Was that the right lab?” He asked her.

“That’s the one” Kala replied with a nod as the pair of Starfleet officers stepped into the turbo-lift. “A years a long time” Mused the young Trill before adding “And do you enjoy being apart of that fine asset” She teased, the lieutenant spoke so… well, lieutenant like. Kala hoped she’d remain her annoyingly bubbly self till the end of time, she enjoyed being that young naive ‘seeing the world for the first time’ girl.

“Yea! It was a long one along with full of excitement and danger. Nothing new for a Starfleet career.” Trax said calmly. “It did not take me long to become a Command officer here.” As the lift took off to its new destination. “I am glad it was by normal means than by death.” Trax stated calmly to her. “How did you enjoy the academy?” Trax wondered.

“I must admit I found it difficult, my family situation and how I left them made it hard to integrate but after my first few semesters I found my normal, I took up photography and a few other hobbies which held. Science was natural to me so I didn’t struggle too much in that field thanks to having studied at Daystrum which gave me an inch above the rest of the cadets” Kala explained. “I’m looking forward to doing some real scientific studies out here among the many many stars.”

The lift came to a stop as the doors opened to a rather bustling section. Here is our level as he exited the lift and waited for Kala to exit. “I can understand and relate my family or I should say one person in the family has made it difficult for me. It has been a hard adjustment but if it weren’t for the Betazoid ambassador and his aide I would not have dealt with this quite easily.” Trax stated as a matter of fact thing. “How was the Daystrom Institute? I hope to visit there someday.” Trax asked the officer. “I am glad you had the opportunity to visit and study there. The bright of the bright get that special opportunity to go there and learn and grow their careers there.”

“I loved every minute of it and if I could have stayed there forever I would have, there wasn’t a day that went by that I was bored or felt out of place… Like I did during my first year at the Academy. I almost considered leaving and going back, even if I had to go back and just clean up after all the real scientists.” She chuckled at the thought of washing out beacons and fixing microscopes. “Maybe I’ll take you there someday, I’d be the perfect tour guide” Kala now stood with Trax just a few minutes walk from the science lab. “Well, this is me” She said with a shrug saddened that their conversation was going to be coming to an end.

“I will have to take you up on the offer sometime. ” Trax said with a smile. “you may have another chance to visit or live there at Daystrom.” Trax commented calmly to her. noticing she was feeling sad that her time with him is or was about up. “Chin up. first impressions remember. Have a good time and we can meet up for dinner or drinks.” Trax offered her ideas. “Got to go need to get to my lunch. take care, Kala.” Trax said kindly to her. as he turned and headed off to the lift again then to forward lounge to eat.

“Bye” She said after he had walked off and likely didn’t hear her voice. Turning she walked the last few meters down the corridor alone her mind in a happier place having met someone else who seemed to be good company, she was overly grateful to him for waking with her. She may enjoy her time here she thought with a smile.
