Moving her arm up and down whilst they shook hands Kala took in the man in front of her. He was taller than she was by a few inches but not enough to make it look awkward to make eye contact but having read the ships manifest and from the wrinkles on his face she knew he was 45 but still looked on the right side of his age. “I’ll stow my things and come straight back,” She said with a smile as they disconnected the shake. Kala didn’t need a second prompt to leave so she did so with haste excited to return and to hear about the mission.

Kala had returned a little later than planned having quickly passed medical to undergo the quickest pre-assignment medical examination and chat with the chief medical officer. “Lieutenant? ” She called out looking for her new boss. “So what’s all the commotion about? I nearly missed the departure!” She explained still looking for the Chief Science Officer.

Responding, “You will be going on an away mission with others from the ship. We will get further details in a few minutes” respondent Frogue.

Did she just hear him right? She hadn’t even spent 24 hours on the ship and already she was getting to go on her first away mission. “No freaking way,” Kala said, soon realising she had said the words aloud. “I mean that’s brilliant news, sir!” I can’t wait!” Kala was doing everything not to simply run around the science labs pumping her arms up and down in delight, for now, she simply rocked back and forth on her heels with her hands holding each other behind her back pinching them to make sure she wasn’t dreaming she was also bitting her lip in excitement.

The mission brief was ....brief and to the point operating on limited info they knew they had to report for away team duty to transporter room one to assist with scanning for anomalies or other problems which could be causing the artificial singularity driven station to loose power randomly.
