Vronclon was worried about his friend being taken but he still had a job to do. He thought he could patrol the ship with his sidearm and look for clues as to who would take the doctor at the same time.

Vronclon’s patrol quickly found obvious clues from debrief reports from around the ship. The kidnappers were Orions, and judging by the evidence those paid to do so by the Mother of Trax Sueder. Likely the ‘why’ was so his Mother could ‘correct’ Trax’s choices in life of enjoying the company of men rather then following her own wishes.
