OOC: fixed your slip you called her Ranlei.
Catt squeeked at the computers anouncment, “Oh! Wow . That is fast. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving person. I bet you have a story to tell about that. But you look tired. We can catch up when your rested. How about we get some lunch tommorrow. I took a cooking class while I was stationed at the agricultural station 6 in the Cait system. Both Caitan and human cuisine so I can cook vegetables now. Oh right you had already left by the time I tried cooking for the Challengers crew. So you wouldn’t know about that fiasco.”, she said in her soft tomes.

“I’ll be honest, it does sound weird out loud, doesn’t it,” Simon replied with a smile. “I read about that, and I’m fine - it’s just… you know… when I looked at the latest transfers and saw your file, everything has sort of… caught up to me,” he said with a slight chuckle to accentuate the end of the statement. “And fast is definitely coming to my mind, it’s sort of surprising that it’s happened so quickly. Seeing you in person has just… reminded me of something that has been happening a lot recently,” he replied.“As to what happened after I left the Academy, we do hear things even out here,” he said with a smile. “I did read about it in your professor’s reports, I heard the Bolians on the crew found it a bit too much,” he said with a chuckle.
“It’ll be nice to catch up off duty at some point and find out what we’ve both been up to, but you obviously came here to talk the the XO about something, I know sitting can be difficult for you if you’d prefer to stand, and if there’s anyway we can make that more comfortable for you do let me know,” he said as he walked over to the replicator.
The room itself hadn’t really been changed much from it’s standard, apart from a picture on the desk of four humans, one a young looking Simon, maybe in his mid-teens, an older boy, and had familial similarities and an older man and woman sitting behind them smiling in a small shuttlecraft, only four seats and all of them having a good time. The only other noticable feature was an old-fashioned cork board, with a picture of the older man in the center and various strings leading off of it, leading to other pinned notes, articles or pictures, all relating to disappearances in England six years ago.
“Anything to drink?” he asked Catt as he reached the replicator.

Catt mrr’d “Sadly yes I did come with a problem. Beef broth please, as for sitting it’s the chairs that are a bit of a problem. But nothing that can’t be solved,” abd she turned a chair 90 degrees and lifted her tail as she sat facing Simon’s seat. Then let her tail fall while she leaned sidewise onto the chairs back. “I met the councilor. I was hardlt through the door and his body language screamed I am very very angry at me. As a Caitan I read body language better than most others can. Frankly he scared me. He calmed once he saw I had noticed his anger. Humans do not switch off emotions like he did. He went calm in the two steps it took to walk to his replicator. It was eerie. We exchanged names the usual want something to drink, and the usual tell me about yourself business. He then tells me he doesn’t want to spend all day talking to a woman. “, and she sighs heavily. “I don’t know if you know my whole story Sim… sorry Sir. But my gender is a sore point with me because My aunt and the Caitan government deny I am female because I am sterile. Kind of rediculous really but in a Matriarchy being a mother becomes a important step to being a person. It’s all very stupid as the entire issue is old fashioned and doesn’t reflect modern Cait society. But it means } can not inherit my parents property or possessions or ever marry. So I might be over reacting to his misogynic tone.”, Catt stopped and sighed again “Sorry I tend to over explain things. So I said oh look at the time and fled. And came directly to find the XO.” She said in the soft tone that she always used. Her face drooping into the sad kitten look.

“The amount of people that come to me about their psych reviews,” Simon responded with a chuckle. “I know they can be daunting, but I don’t know the issue, I just got confirmation that you were cleared by the counselor for duty, Ensign. He has also recently transferred in and I’ve been kept busy recently without the time to get onto it. However, I’ve heard he can be rather… direct, that it comes across as offensive,” he replied. “Now when it comes to bringing up gender as an issue, Starfleet are accepting of all. So, I’ll definitely bring that up with him. Any more than that would be in your hands, Ensign. The counselor is there to speak about just such issues, and even if he doesn’t necessarily want to listen to you, that’s his role. If his not doing that, well then I’ll be needing to remind him of his position,” he said with a slight smile. He knew Catt was probably a bit nervous, and she had quite the ordeal with the academy after he had graduated according to her records.
“I know it sounds… unfair, but whether he wants to or not, our counselor is there to help each one of our crew. I’ll remind him of that when I see him,” he told Catt, “but for now, he has cleared you for duty on the psych evaluation, and I’m sure the Chief Science Officer has something to work on,” he said, but just as he was about to dismiss Catt he stopped. “Oh also, regarding that garden you were growing on the challenger, I’m sure there is some spare growing patches in one of our Arboreta,” he told her before asking her “is there anything else you wanted to talk about?”
