She had never quite felt like she belonged anywhere and that had left Catt something of a oddity as far as Caitan’s went. Boarding the Ark Angel she had decided things would be different. She had made her way to her assigned living quarters, unpacked and had a polite conversation with her roommate. She had lunch and headed for sickbay. The boardingg medical was usually the easiest and fasted of the duties new crew were required to do. She had avoided sickbays since she had left the Challenger and been attacked by plant zombies in Challengers sickbay. So it took some bracing of will and a few deep breaths to enter.
“Um, Hi new crew. Need my boarding clearance.” , she said looking about to be sure no Zombies were shuffling towards her.
As Caitans go Catt was unusally short and her fur was a pearlesent white that was not any known natural fur color known to Caitans. She wore the skirted version of the uniform a in blue, and like most Caitans didn’t wear boots or footwear. She also lacked the mane most adult Caitans male and female sported which made her look younger than she actually was. Which tended to cause her peers to overlook her.

“Welcome aboard and welcome to sickbay ensign, I am Doctor Trax Suder the Chief Medical Officer here. Please have a seat on the main biobed. We will get your physical done quickly for you.” Trax said with a smile as he ushered the Caitian towards the biobed. As he pulled a tricorder out of his pocket and waited for her to get comfortable.

Catt sat where indicated and said, “I suffered genetic damage, malnutrition, toxic shock ,and well intentioned I suppose physical reconstruction Doctor. So your readings may be a bit unusual. But other than needing to take emzyme suppliments to digest food and being unable to conceive offspring I am in generally good health. “, she told the doctor in a soft voice while she studied the carpet. Standard Starfleet industrial carpeting. Easy to clean, hard to stain and boring as it is possible to make carpeting she thought wrinkling her nose . She relaxed a bit as she interacted with the doctor. He wouldn’t be so calm if there were zombies in sickbay after all.

“I understand. I believe some items can be fixed in time but some will never change but my readings show even though slighting abnormal readings you seem to be in fair health Ensign.” Trax said calmly to her. “With the right treatments and care, we can restore most of the issues you are having.” Trax added. “Depending on the toxic shock and we might be able to get you close or possibly restore the damage and possibly fix the lack of conceiving offspring as well. but that’s all up to you if you wish to be complete again. There have been new advances in research on genetic repairing and restoring the lack of conceiving. ” Trax added as he waited to hear her reactions.

Catt listened and nodded, “The issue doctor is not really one of want or don’t want it’s more a who did what. We were not rescued by Starfleet after the colony failed. The people who did find us didn’t much care for us as people but more as exchangable commodities. The changes they made have proven to resist all efforts to counteract them.
But I am far from adverse if you want to try. The radiation and toxins were from a old style pre federation sleeper colony ship the colony used as a power plant. It was 200 years old at a minimum. Fairly short half life and present but not overly damaging after the inital burst killed most of the adults. The kids were out on a geology field trip to a farming station so we missed the worst of it. But the toxins got into the atmosphere and spread to everything. Long term exposure is why we were so messed up. The repairs they did were more to make us presentable for sale then to help us live full and happy lives. I try not to dwell on the past though. They did save us after all.”, she said softly looking up at the doctor only to drop her gaze if their eyes met.
