It was one day later, and the Ark Angel was currently cruising along at a leisurely warp 2 towards another unexplored system deep in the Beta Quadrant to survey after the events of the previous day. Everyone who had been on the ship for some time had an air of excitement about them and eagerness. Finally this air broke when a ship wide announcement came from the Captain =/\= Attention all hands, starting at 0900 hours tomorrow and lasting through the day and evening till 2000 hours there will be a ship wide party. As is our usual tradition awards for the past mission and service will be recognized as will promotions be given. The theme for this part is to celebrate your race and/or cultures sense of holiday spirit around this time of the year. While not required or mandatory to display such if you are not comfortable, those that do will be expected to give a brief overview of the race or cultures holiday to the children of the ship in attendance. From there the children will vote on who was the most well represented of their holiday spirit and most well educated to them. The winner will receive a prize from the children then. Food and drinks will be provided in 17/18 Forward and will be where the party and judging will be held. Any comments, questions or concerns, should be directed to myself. That will be all. =/\= She said ending the call.==1 Day Later! - 0900 Hours=
Sure enough the following day, now two since the events on the Lawgiver planet had passed the ship was abuzz by many among the crew with a variety of holiday spirit garbs and traditions being readied. 17/18 Forward had been decorated in a variety of rotating ways aided by some NE engineers who were using a group of portable holo-emitters to every half-hour rotate the celebration shown among different races. The food and drink tables were already abuzz with different fares freshly prepared by the ship’s cooking staff.
As 0900 hours ticked over the celebratory party began in full swing for those off duty currently filling in. The current food and drink offerings were mostly a breakfast-brunch affair given the current hour.

Arthur smiled at the thought of Christmas. While they didn’t have an exact clone of it on Qo’NoS, they did have a similar holiday, the Di’JaH-Aht festival. Where Warriors turn up from all over the Empire, do battle against each other (though not to the death), celebrate the year’s newest warriors, and just show off in general. It was also a time for family and House reunions, including an exchange of gifts (Arthur’s father, Ruk, liked to make a challenge of it, to see who could give the best gift). But Arthur enjoyed the battles the best.
He looked up at his Bat’leth hanging on the wall. He still remembered using it recently at the Kot’baval festival, and he’d wear it today. Getting it down, he located the back-holster for it, a custom made gift from his mother a few years back. He put on his armor, adjusting it a bit and attaching a few ‘festive’ decorations, like a Christmas themed pin he was given. He then made his hair more presentable before he headed out to 17/18 forward.

Simon had felt a bit disappointed the last couple of days, though the security department may not have been able to tell themselves as he did hide it well. At the end of the day, their original intent was to find the lawgiver’s scroll and provide it to the Guridans, which they did. So in that way, the mission was a success. He had hoped that the counsellor and the doctors on board would have been able to restore Shanok’s mind, but he didn’t give the crew the ability to do that. Everything in the last few moments was a blur down on the planet, and it was the first time he was able to reflect on the events. It was while he was contemplating that his thoughts were interuptted by the captain’s announcement. “Great, at this time of year as well,” he said to himself a little bitterly. Today marked the beginning of the sixth year that Thomas had disappeared. The previous christmas holidays these last five years had been bittersweet, as his family always remembered and looked up, hoping that he would be home for Christmas that year. As a result, Simon wasn’t feeling very Christmasy anymore, but he had managed to find a new family.
“Computer, begin recording message.
Hi Mother, Father. You won’t hear this message any tme soon, as my current mission has taken me to unexplored space. We’ve not long arrived, but it’s already been a busy time. I haven’t had any luck yet, trying to find out more about my brother, so hopefully I’ll find some leads while I’m where Starfleet hasn’t explored, maybe that’s how he has kept out of contact for so long. There’s so much that has happened, but details will wait until I return, I would rather share the stories of the things that have happened in real time, as I’m sure it will leave more questions. I know it has for me. Being so far away, it isn’t easy, but even if I can’t contact you directly, know that I’m always thinking of our family, and hopefully we can be reunited one day, and actually spend christmas as a whole family once more. It’s been a hell of a year though, already having my own department to look after, I’ve learned so much about myself. I know this year is going to be hard, as I won’t be there for Christmas, and so both of your sons will be away, and I’m going to be away for a while, so there will be a backlog of these messages all coming through. Love you both, and Merry Christmas. End Recording,” Simon instructed the computer. “Send to Ryan and Amy Starr once in Federation communicatin range,” he said, with the knowledge that it would probably be closer to next Christmas when they return.
Simon sat in silence for a long moment, before finishing the last report he had for the day, and he shut his eyes to try and get some sleep. The engine humming constantly provided just the background noise he needed to make it easier, but his worries about Tom always came back in his dreams. The worst part of it was the mystery about him and what happened.
The next morning, he got up and was about to head to his office when he saw the ship decorated with all manner of decorations. He had almost forgot that they were having a party today. He got dressed, and headed to 17/18 forward.
Wearing a christmas sweater his mother gave him just before he left the federation, a yellow jumper with a white starfleet insignia that covered the entire front of the jumper, taking prominence right in the center of the jumper, and a red hat with white fur surrounding the edges, that he begrunginly put on as he sighed, and looked to see who else had already arrived.
