Starr’s return shot missed Shanok by a small margin as the Vulcan with almost supernatural speed dove into a half buried building next to where the Operations team was inside. Cracks were starting to also form near the Away Team here signaling the emergence of one or more of the grave ooze creatures. Inside the government building the Operations team was a muffled screen was heard with the shattering of stone signaling at least one of the creatures or a part of the creature had gotten inside to the team there.

As the sharp sounds of phaser fire filled the air, Katie stopped dead behind Starr, but thankfully, some instinct kicked in as she tumbled with him behind the cover. Her face was pale and sweaty as she held a death grip on the phaser, her knuckles turning white from the exertion. She remained hidden behind the cover as he returned fire, forcing herself to slow her breathing from the panicky state it had ascended to between the sprint back and the battle occurring. It took her a brief moment but she processed the COS’ orders and nodded at him hesitantly. Peeking around the cover, she saw that Shanok was hidden away and made a beeline to the power packs. Her shaky hands set her phaser down next to them as she searched for the switch to get them turned on.

As the ground shook more and ooze began to seep out of cracks, Nunn found the switch for the fusion powered lights in an upper right corner. When she flipped it on the bright archaeological lights lit up the sun filled area even more in stark contrast. Immediately the ooze readying to spring forth from the ground near her shrieked back into its holes. It seems she had barely gotten to here in time to avoid the creature coming crashing down on the away team.

As the creature retreated with a shriek, Katie collapsed to her knees next to the lights, breathing hard from the exertion and panic of the last several minutes. She ran her hands over her sweaty face, pushing her hair back and out of it as she forced herself to steady her breathing and lengthen her exhales.

Just as the ooze creature retreated for now, the ground began to grow warm beneath everyone’s feet for some reason. Tricorder scans quickly highlighted that there were massive energy build ups all across the valley of ruins from the ancient generators and 23rd century impulse reactors! The explosion alone would blow the valley into a swath of vapor in 3-4 minutes!

As she felt the ground growing warm under her knees and lower legs, Katie scrambled back onto her feet, the panic that she had been waging war against returning in full force. Her head whipped around as she tried to find her fellow crew members, not sure what exactly the plan was now…

Just as this was all taken in Arthur Jones was seen by the team diving into the ruined buried building after Shanok, Klingon dagger drawn and in hand, he would stagger from a strike by Shanok pistol butting him but Shanok himself retreated further out of sight deeper into the ruins.

And just as all THIS was taken in above in the sky was a rocketing roar greeting their ears. Glancing that way they would see the massive gliding form of the Ark Angel swoop in with glowing hull in a controlled atmospheric entry across the valley. Before any replies or further movement could be made the feeling of transport welcomed each of them and they would reemerge back in one of the Ark Angel’s transporter rooms.
