Domingo closed his eyes a moment to settle himself before stepping back and smiling awkwardly. “Of course, sorry.” He responded before around the table away from Katie to hold her chair and helped her sit. He then went back to his own side and picked at his food, not quite as hungry as he was before.

“Thank you for your words before.” He said quietly.

Ensign Chavez, Sec

“You’re welcome,” Katie replied, her soft voice matching his in volume. She sampled several more bites of the delicious food, but watched Chavez’s actions with concern. As she chewed on her latest bite, her eyes flicked up to meet his and her brows furrowed slightly. “Is everything okay?”

Nunn, CNS

His eyes having refocused on Katie, Domingo shook his head but then nodded instead, “Yeah. I’m just finding that when you don’t really allow yourself to feel anything for so long that all of these newly found emotions are taking me on a roller coaster. The highs met by lows, sheer desire met by moroseness. I’m still coming to terms with it all.”

He chuckled wryly before having grasped his cup and drinking more wine.

Katie smiled again as he shared his thoughts with her, stabbing another piece of food and chewing thoughtfully for a few moments. She swallowed the bite and washed it down with a small sip of wine. “I know the feeling,” she finally responded. “And I’m the one with the degree in emotions.” She laughed to punctuate her point, although it was a slightly more sarcastic laugh than genuine giggle.
