“I decided I’d carry on the legacy of my birth parents. They fought and died with honor, so it’s only sensible.” Arthur said, referring to when his parents disobeyed orders from a corrupt XO and saved the Klingon ship that his adoptive father, Ruk, would ultimately command.

“I joined after their time, but we always remember those who sacrifice themselves for the greater good. It’s been an earthen tradition that has been going on for hundreds of years,” Starr replied, a more reflective tone when Arthur first came in. “So, you were raised in a klingon family. Have you had your physical examination yet?” he asked.

Lieutenant (J.G) Simon Starr, CoS ((here, at least))

“Not yet. Though I’m probably more fit than most humans, I can go the distance with both my brothers and live through it.” Arthur chuckled at his own humor, both of his brothers were full blooded Klingons, and brutal.

“I’ll make a note of that. Mok’bara is a good martial style that I typically train with as well,” Simon responded. “So, what are you good at? Whats your current skillset?” he asked next, now trying to figure out where he would best fit into the department.

“I’m really good at apprehension and hand to hand combat.” Arthur responded simply, gesturing at the knife sheath at his right side. “If it’s alright with you, I’d like to carry my Dk’Tagh knife on duty.”

Simon looked over at the knife on the side, and gestured for Arthur to show him the knife. While he was waiting for Arthur to do so, he asked “What does it mean to you?” There was a tone in his voice that suggested that this was some form of test for the new Ensign.

OOC: Just thought i’d put this in here to coincide with past requests like this! For consistency sake of the ship

Starr might recall in a past discussion with their Romulan Captain that like some others she had an interest in blades and their use, in fact she displayed a variety of those in her quarters and ready room. There was also half-jokes that she kept one hidden somewhere in her Captain’s chair. Whether true or not while Starr could approve the security forces wielding blades it might not be a bad idea to run an ‘is this ok with you’ check by the CO.

After a moment’s hesitation, Arthur drew the knife, handing it over to Simon, who’d notice the razor sharp edge, hinged secondary blades (which were currently folded up along the blade), and the crest of the House of Rantac on the junction between the blade and handle.

“My mother, Uyanna, makes them, she made that one for me when I passed my first Rite, and has passed the art of making them down to me.” Arthur responded, his eyes never leaving his knife.

OOC: Yep, that’ll be the next step ;)

IC: Simon looked over the knife and knew that it would require further approval, but there was a reason behind it. “We’ll have to bring this up with the captain, I’ll speak to her about it. Having it displayed in your quarters is one thing, but having it on you while on duty is another. I’ll speak to the captain while your having your physical and psychological evaluations,” Simon responded. “Now, what is your goal within starfleet, where do you see yourself later down your career?” he asked.

Lieutenant (J.G) Simon Starr, CoS

“I see myself, down the line, where you are now, as a Department Head of Security. I’ve got a talent for security.” Arthur chuckled at his own joke.
