Starr acknowledged the look silently and moved to the side so that the two officers had a modicum of privacy. “What’s on your mind, Commander?” he asked curiously having noted that something didn’t sit right with the counselor with something Shanok said.

As they moved off to the side, Katie’s face twisted into concern and confusion. She was careful to keep her back to the Vulcan and whatever he was up to at this point. “I have a few nagging concerns and I’m not sure if they’re worth bringing to the attention of the captain,” she began, hesitantly. “Some of the information I’ve received from Shanok has been inconsistent. He’s given different answers to the same questions.” She felt confident starting with that aspect since it was more objective. She bit her lip for a moment before continuing on with the more subjective. “I’m reading emotions from him as I speak with him and, well, I don’t know how much interaction you’ve had with Vulcans, but it just doesn’t feel right. I don’t get a good gut feeling.” She looked at Starr hopefully, seeing what his reaction to her information was.

“Thanks for bringing it to my attention, ma’am,” Simon answered quietly. “If his stories are inconsistent, even as a human that would be suspicious, would suggest his not telling us something. In a vulcan, it’s entirely illogical. This definitely should be mentioned. We need to find out more about that ooze in the graves. He seems to know things about it, and was glad I managed to scare it off, as if it was important. This just confirms that we need to be careful. Be on guard, and I would ask if you could give me any psychological profiling of him in your discussions. If anything that is pertinent and you feel puts the crew at risk, inform us as soon as you can,” he suggested. “I’ll contact the captain about this. Thanks again,” he concluded before tapping his comm badge.

=/\=Starr to Ark Angel, I’ve just chatted with the counsellor, and I thought this may be worth mentioning. Our Vulcan friend seems to be hiding something, Nunn pointed out that he had answered the same question differently, which is odd behaviour, especially for a vulcan. It’s completely illogical, especially to do it to the Federation. I believe he is currently going with the operations team to view what they found.=/\=

Drudoc replied. =/\= Understood Lieutenant, we currently ran a check of Shanok’s ship’s logs. There is evidence to suspect he could have harmed or killed 10 other Vulcans that had been sent here with him on the ship a year ago. You and your teams are under orders to proceed with all caution and apprehend Shanok. There is a possibility he is mentally unstable due to a mind meld with one of the grave ooze creatures before his possible harming of the other Vulcans. Do not tip your hand in knowing this though until you are in a strong position to apprehend him. There is no telling what other secrets he may have under his belt. Questions? =/\= Drudoc asked.

He then pulled out his PaDD and searched the Federation database for any records of the Vulcan Shanok, seeing if he could find anything that might explain his odd behaviour.

Link up to the Ark Angel showed Professor Shanok’s ID matching what they had seen of the man before physically. His last psych profile had been just a hair over 6 years ago now done on Vulcan by a Lieutenant La’nar of Starfleet Medical before he and his ship and presumably its crew had come out this far. The notes in the file showed he was in sound mind and body and health as were those among the crew. What could have pushed him to want to attempt a mind meld though with some giant graveyard eating ooze creature much less then kill 10 other Vulcans was anyone’s guess!
