Finishing fixing up the sonic drill didn’t take Ranlei too much longer only about 15 more minutes. Once she was done test diagnostics showed the drill was ready for start up and use.

Firing it up the sonic drill hummed smoothly to life but stopped suddenly a few seconds later with warning beeps that something was beneath it that matched its preprogrammed sensing parameters. Checking the logs she would find a something chilling sight. Beneath the drill dig are by about a foot was a mass of ancient mummified bodies in rusty ancient iron boxes. It seems Ranlei had dug up a mass grave yard! Interesting more so was that the whole site was encompassed by some sort of gelatinous like substance that seemed almost displeased to her senses to be exposed to the open air as it wiggled back and forth over the mass grave yard.

As Ranlei saw the drill hum to life she almost relaxed, she was a rather meticulous and fussy engineer and things she fixed tended to stay fixed. So the sudden stoppage elicited some rather colorful phrases on the subject of Vulcan’s and their attachments to things that ought to be recycled as scrap, in a gutter German so uncouth it couldn’t of been learned in any school. She read the readouts. Grunted, “Not a fault it’s uncovered something. Then started the pre startup diagnostics again to be ready to resume.
“Lieutenant we uncovered something.”, she called out as she moved to see what had been uncovered. The sight of rusted through metal coffins caused her stomach to lurch as their mummified contents could be seen. Disturbing the dead was a almost universal taboo. So that was bad enough. But the sight of a gelatinous substance covering the site elicited a sudden rapid backwards scuttle and a very loud high pitched horrified scream . The goo was moving. It was moving in what seemed like displeasure. Likely at having had the business end of a sonic drill pointed at it and uncovering it. and she thought hysterically that she was going to feed that damn Vulcan to this goo for omitting to tell them his drill was set up in a graveyard.

Simon was just about to head off to the doctor to deliver the sample when he heard Ranlei call. Turning around and coming back, he began making his way over. When she screamed, he increased his speed, making his way back to the hole. As he saw the coffins, the commbadges went off, coming from the ship.

Simon tapped his comm badge to open a channel to both Tenzing and the captain on the ship hoping that Tenzing was also near where Shanok was, putting his hand towards his phaser defensively in his other hand as he noticed the goo gastrolate in response to their presence.

Commander Tenzing, could we borrow a scientist, I think we might have found some sort unknown compound. The way it’s responding, it might even be an unidentified creature of some sort. Looking down once again, Simon continued observing the substance for anything aggressive. “I think we should take a step back, Ensign. Just to be safe. Chavez, can you get this to Doctor Trax?” he asked, handing the sample over to him. “I’ll stay here, in case this substance is more than that,” then not getting as close when he first called but taking a defensive stance in preparation for anything, gesturing for Ranlei to step away from the drill and put some distance between them and it until they could determine more.

Ranlei was moving away as fast as she could, the better part of valor as they say well Ranlei was no hero. She very quickly fled to 20 feet behind Simon and trembled. There had been a simulation in the academy, it was a proper procedures simulation, not going near strange goo was the lesson. The Simulation was based as most were on a real encounter a away team had. The Sim’s name was Yar. Just Yar. The exam based on it had In memory of Tasha Yar as a sub title. Whoever that was Ranlei was terrified of goo now.

Miz’uki was standing by supervising she had to tend to some small things in Engineering before so she was a little late to the party Walking upto Ensign Ranlei “Ensign how’s it going” she asked in her usual purr

Ranlei was already a bundle of frayed nerves standing there trembling like a damsel in distress. Staring at the pit, the coffins and mummies and GOO! That she knew was in it with eyes so big she might of been mistaken for Little Orphan Annie had anyone been alive who understood that reference. She spun at the sound of the voice and the sight of a u known furry monster close behind her was just to much. Her eyes rolled up like the rollers on a slot machine and she fainted. The fact that the Furry Beast was a Caitan in a Star Fleet uniform of sorts did not register, and she slumped to the ground like a bag of wet cement.

She quickly caught the fainting ensign dragging her to a safe distance from the hole and then gently laying Ranlei on the ground she tapped her comm badge =^=”Lieutenant Miz’uki to medical teams I need someone to please come Revive Ensign Ranlei I seem to have accidentally startled her into unconsciousness”=^= she sighed a slight chuckle in her voice

“She’ll get the stomach for this sort of thing eventually,” Simon said, a smile could be heard in his voice, but he didn’t turn around. “Ensign Ranlei found something curious. I’ve called for a science officer and let the captain know, but we seem to be looking at some gelatinous substance around some old graves,” he said, more seriously. “Ranlei was fixing the drill when it stopped because it found something, and that’s what she found. The goo seems to respond to our presence though, so not sure if it’s alive or not… that’s why we’re waiting on science to get here,” he explained to Miz’uki as she called for a medical team to help the orion officer.

Lieutenant (J.G) Simon Starr, CoS

As the team was hovering over Ranlei, NE Wakey Wake came rushing up at a job with a medical kit. Huffing a little he said. “..Sorry, Lieutenant Sueder has his hands full with some examinations and your analysis. So here I am, let’s see what we can do for Ensign Greene.” He said kneeling down to dig through the medical kit for a hypo of wake up medications.

As this happened behind them they heard a sloshing sound, rising up from the exposed burial site the large ooze/slime creature was sloshing its way out of the exposed burial site and seemed to have picked up a large amount of vast decaying bodies and rusty metal graves. The thing looked angry for lack of a better term and to accent this point the team found the creature now rising a good 12 feet up from the ground hurl bits of itself encompassed around dead bodies and metal rusty parts being thrown their way!

It was at this same moment NE Wakey Wake had injected Ranlei into consciousness with what he had termed before noticing the angry looking ooze/slime creature as his ‘patented Wakey Wakey juice!’

Miz’uki’s Eyes went wide as she saw what was attacking them “First a Giant Scorpion with a flaming tail now an Ooze monster?!?! What Next?!?!” she growled standing up “Everyone Get back away from it” the Feline shouted drawing her phaser setting it on a wide enough beam to encompass the whole creature and set to 3 the heaviest stun setting she was backing away dodging bodies and whatever else was being thrown but still kept herself between the creature and everyone else Miz’uki was one to keep others safe before herself while she fired she shouted again knowing the com link to the bridge was open”Lieutenant Miz’uki here we have a new problem…The Ooze seems to be alive and attacking us! we are falling back and I am trying to keep it off everyone” the fur on the back of Miz’uki’s head and neck were standing up just like a cats would and there was a noteable feline Hiss as she did all this
