He had an idea based on the academy information, but still liked to ask the question so that his officers had a chance to put into positions they would shine, and also where more training would be needed.

“I’m good with a phaser, rifle or sidearm, excel at hand-to-hand and try to keep well practiced with the holodeck or sparring, have quite a bit of experience at tactical, good at thinking on my feet, and prefer to meet a tough situation with skill and finesse. I have some experience in repairing or modifying gear while in the field. I had to work with an engineer during an engagement with the Jem’Hadar to get a crashed shuttle’s phaser array operational enough for one burst at a hovering enemy patrol ship. The rest of the away team was pinned down.” Domingo responded while a brief look of nostalgia went across his face.

Simon made a note of everything that Chavez had said, especially with the work on the phaser array he had done. “That is interesting, glad that you can deal with tight situations. And staying practiced is also important. So, for now I’ll probably put you in the Beta shift, you can use today to get used to the ship, and then report in tomorrow,” the chief responded. “Any questions for me Ensign?” Starr asked, leaving some Chavez some time to think about it.

“No sir, no questions. I’ll try getting up to speed with how things are run as quickly as I can.” Domingo responded while rising from his chair.

“Excellent, get to know the ship, and report in tomorrow. Dismissed,” Simon said before going back to the reports he had to complete.

Domingo left the security office and proceeded to head to his next check in.
