[snip]“I’m Lieutenant Commander Trainor.” The COO stated as he extended his hand for a shake. “I’ve brought the Chief Medical Officer, Lieutenant Suder, and our Counselor, Lieutenant Commander Nunn.” Tenzing said motioning to the two officers beside him. “They’ll perform a quick check up and eval to see that you’re all up to date and in good health.”
Trainor COO
Flanking Trainor, Katie stepped up upon hearing her name. She waited for the Vulcan to shake Trainor’s hand before offering her own in a similar greeting. “I’ll let Dr. Suder take care of your physical first, but I’m looking forward to chatting with you,” she commented, warmly. She hoped that it would be just that – a chat – as a formal evaluation could potentially make the man uncomfortable and that wouldn’t be a productive use of time for anyone.
Nunn, CNS
Trax followed Trainor quietly as he kept an open mind about all people on the mission as he was not sure what to think of the new officers. As he approached Shanok with tricorder in hand. “Nice to meet you Shanok.” Trax commented calmly and avoid of emotion as possible. “How are you?” He said calmly as he extended his hand to shake theirs he was ready to give the Vulcan hand sing just in case he did not want to touch his hand. “Peace and long life. As he made the Vulcan gesture of greeting.
Lt Jg Trax Suder - CMO
Shanok gave a polite nod to the senior officers then returned the salute to Trax, and to you as well, Lieutenant. Please scan away..” He said taking a seat on a nearby chair to let the CMO do his work. Scans showed Shanok was in decent health, no abnormalities showed up on the general scans. All in all he was in solid fit health for a man who had been on his own for who knew how many months or more depending on how long he had been here, which they still didn’t know since no one had asked or checked.
Domingo walked a distance away from the ruins while making sure to stay within eye sight of it and the other crew members. He kept an eye out for any threats to the away team.
Ensign Chavez, Sec
Chavez’s patrol around the area came up clean, the ruined buildings nearby of stone work were mostly empty only a few pieces of dig equipment or PADDs here or there showed where Shanok did his solo dig work or studies. Longer scans by tricorder showed local wildlife nearby but none that were an immediate threat. Setting up sonic emitters to ward them off would probably be the smart next step!
Thoon took out his tricorder and began scanning for life signs outside of the camp. He jogged to the edge of camp and then slowed to a walk, moving in the opposite direction of Chavez. He tapped a few keys and added a secondary scan for power sources. In his previous posting on the Pangborn, he’d been part of a much smaller crew and therefore a much smaller department. This meant that, as an officer, there was rarely an away mission he wasn’t on. He’d always loved that duty, the chance to visit an alien world, go further than any Ool so far. He knew of one other Ool in Starfleet but that was all about to change. Word was that Oolass’s petition for entry into the Federation was expected to be accepted. There’d be no more limitations on the number of applicants to the academy, no more restrictive application process for non-Federation citizens and so he expected to be much less of an oddity soon.
He made his way slowly, being careful to watch his footing. He didn’t want to disturb the site and risk disrupting Shanok’s work in some way. He knew next to nothing about archaeology but he did remember that preserving the integrity of a site was important. He was probably being overly cautious, but as a security officer that wasn’t a bad trait.
Ens. Furood, Security
Furood’s scans came up much like Chavez’s local wildlife mostly made up of small cat like pack animals were milling about in various ways within scanning distance, other animals were a small mammal rodent species hidden in walls but again nothing threatening it seemed. Again setting up sonic emitters probably would be the smart next step.
Thoon smiled and let out a satisfied breath through his nostrils. No significant threats within scanning range, open air, what wasn’t to like? He swung the equipment pack off of his shoulder and set it down with a clack of aluminum on gravel. He tapped in the lock’s code and the lid popped open slightly with a hiss. He opened it the rest of the way to expose the 4 sonic emitters nestled in molded foam. He took out the first one and pressed a button at the base of the emitter housing. The stand extended with an audible click and three supports popped free from the main post to form a tripod. He took a few steps away from the case and placed the emitter, being careful to direct it away from the camp. He tapped a second button and the auto-pitons in the feet slammed home with a quiet puffing sound. He then entered the operating code and activated the device. A barely audible whine rapidly increased in pitch until it was quickly out of his auditory range. “Perfect.” He said. He return to the case and snapped it shut. Slinging it over his shoulder, he headed out towards his next destination. In that manner he placed all 4 emitters and then returned to camp, either to pick up remaining emitters to place or rendezvous with Chavez if they had finished.

Dominic was the last to beam down he wasn’t very fond of beaming down anywhere. In fact he would rather not use the transporter at all costs. But of course there was no way around this. He had to join the other junior officers in this little trip. This was new to him he hadn’t exactly experienced being on an away team. Once he was on the planet with everyone else he looked around almost feeling out of place.
Ensign Dominic Cyris Corvax-Doctor
Katie saw the slightly uncomfortable looking ensign and gestured him over to where she and the CMO were standing. She doubted that whatever evaluations were needed would take a particularly long time, but it was always nice to have more company if they ended up sitting around waiting for the others on the away team to wrap up their tasks.
Nunn, CNS
Dominic had seen the counselor gesture him over so he didn’t hesitate on going over to them “Hello counselor. Good to see you and Suder”He said politely
Ensign Dominic Cyris Corvax-Doctor
Katie smiled at Corvax and introduced him to their new patient as well.

Ranlei walked over to the sonic drill eying the antique relic of a bygone era with some disdain. She scanned it for structural stability before she got close to it. Assuming she found it stable she got closer and began cata2loging the subsystems and systems that were its components. Once she had that she looked over the list tried to interface with the excavators controls to find out what was specifically wrong with it.
Ensign Ranlei Greene. Engineer.
The sonic drill was indeed an older model, likely one from the early 23rd century if not earlier, but it was mostly in good shape overall despite the wear and tear the long years had shown it over use. Markings showed it was property of the Vulcan Science Directorate probably Shanok’s own drill who knew. Diagnostics though showed the power convertor and power taps near it were worn out, they would need replacement which would be easy enough to either replicate or if Ranlei got permission she could set up a newer drill rig.
GM CockRoach
Ranlei looked at th7e drill a mioment and hrmmed at it. She had alreay brought a small drill to replace the bigger older drill she had expected. The COO had given her card blanche to bring any equipment she wanted so she had planned for the worst case. She walked back to her grav cart and took out the signal enhancers and set them up in a triangle around the landing sight. Tapping her com badge she contacted the ship. =^=Ensign Ranlei Greene Engineering. I have established a defined transport location.=^=, while the use of signal enhancers was not standard practice Ranlei felt it ought to be when you were on a planet with no transporter facility. She then made her way to the tent the Scientist and the senior officers had gone into and looked for a door chime or other way to announce herself.

Simon was also patrolling, but also staying nearer to the group. While the other Security officers were on patrol, he himself had also gone on patrol to ensure that all areas were covered. He stayed towards the entrance of the site they were on, and kept an ear and eye open for any trouble.
