USS Ark Angel

Side Sim: CO's Ready Room

Katie found the boarding process onto the Ark Angel to be quite painless. She’d taken care of her evaluations on the starbase while waiting for the ship’s arrival, so the only task she had to complete before being official was reporting in to her new CO. She tapped the door chime to her ready room and waited, her fingers fidgeting at her side.

There was a long moment’s pause before a crisp =/\= Enter! =/\= Came from within.

Once entering Nunn found the Romulan Fleet Captain Drudoc Andone stand from behind her desk, how a Romulan became a Starfleet Fleet Captain was probably an interesting story in itself. Standing at a 6‘2 in height she was strong built showing a woman who worked out and kept in shape, as well as had led a life of hard work. She had deep dark green colored eyes with raven black hair lightly tinted in spots with silver lining though likely not from old age given she was only in her late 150s or so. Coming around the work desk she spoke with a strong, firm, but politely toned commanding voice. “..Greetings Lieutenant Commander, welcome aboard the Ark Angel. Please relax, take a seat if you wish or get yourself something to eat or drink from the replicator, while I attend to feeding my pet Shaloon fish..” She said moving to the right side of the room where a large fish tank in the corner was home to a basketball sized red-brown fish of exotic type. If Nunn had studied such in her career she might recognize it as a fish usually found within the Romulan Star Empire from the now destroyed Romulan homeworld Romulus. Likely the fish species was now endangered after the Hobus Incident of 2387.

Drudoc took out from a small container bits of raw fresh meat which she fed to the fish and it eagerly ate up with quite sharp looking teeth, within a moment the bits of meat were gone and the fish swam back and forth seeming to eye Nunn now like its next meal with somewhat intelligent looking predatory eyes. Returning to her desk seat Drudoc said indicating for Nunn to do the same if she hadn’t by this point. “..So Commander, I see you are one of our two expected transfers from the USS Dresden. Tell me how are things over in Pioneer fleet’s area of operations?” She asked.

Drudoc Andone CO

Katie shifted uncomfortably as she waited for the enter command, thankful when it finally came. The door slid open to reveal her new commanding officer, who she studied with interest as she stepped through the passage. She was far shorter than her new CO, which wasn’t something that she ran into particularly often. Her brown hair was pulled back in a ponytail and the rest of her appearance was quite tidy, Starfleet uniform included. Her build was trim; it was clear that she either had a high metabolism or enjoyed physical activity.

Veering off toward the replicator with a nod of affirmation, she ordered herself a glass of iced green tea, taking a small sip as she watched Andone’s actions intently. Fish had never been a particular forte of hers, so she had no idea what kind of animal it was within the glass cage, but its presence in the CO’s office was noteworthy enough to her. She watched Andone complete her task and then followed her to the desk, taking the indicated seat and leaning backward slightly in the chair, enjoying another sip of her beverage.

“Bustling, although I wasn’t there long,” Katie answered. Her heart skipped a beat briefly at the mention of being one of two transfers, but her practiced composure kept the anticipation from reaching her features. “Starfleet seemed to think that the Ark Angel had been without a counselor long enough.”
