Simon was taken aback slightly by the question, but did his best not to show it. He had been aboard the Ark Angel for a while now, and he was getting to know the ship well. “Me? The new chief?” he asked. “It would be my honour, ma’am” he responded calmly, keeping his answers short so that he took as little of the captain’s time as possible.

Ensign Simon Starr, Security (at this point at least :P)

”..Then the position is yours effective immediately, have your staff briefed on our mission and a security outline procedure for the ship ready before our departure tomorrow. In addition with this position you are receiving a field promotion to the rank of lieutenant junior grade..” she said handing over the rank pip to pin for him.

Simon stood at attention as she handed over the pips, and nodded his head slightly. “Thank you, ma’am, I’ll speak to the department as my first thing, captain,” Starr responded “and the procedures will be ready for you as requested,” he added before waiting for anything else the captain had to say, or for permission to be dismissed.
