Drudoc sighed as the final preparations were being made to leave on their mission the sudden departure of their chief of security couldn’t have come at a worse time. She just hoped that the ensign she had picked to fill in was up to the task of the ship’s safety! =/\= Ensign Simon Starr Report to the ready room immediately!=/ \= She said.

Simon heard over his commbadge the captain’s request. This was the first time the new captain had called him directly for anything. He wondered what she wanted, and if everything was OK. The only other time he had been called to a captain’s office was during his academy training - when he graduated. That taught him one thing, when the captain calls you, it’s not always bad. Taking a breath, Simon tapped his commbadge =/\=Acknowledged, Captain. On my way=/\=

Simon stepped into the turbolift and announced “Bridge.” Since his tour, his duties rarely took him to the bridge, and hadn’t been since he was getting familiarized with the ship. He stepped up to the ready room as some of the bridge crew noticed his arrival, before getting back to their own duties. He pressed the chime to the ready room and awaited permission to enter.

Simon took a breath and stepped into the room, approaching the captain at her desk. “You wanted to see me captain?” he asked calmly. Though he couldn’t help a tinge of nerves as to why the captain would request to see an Ensign, why couldn’t what needed to be said run down the chain of command? Simon was sure that anything the captain needed doing would have come from her, so what was with the direct contact? Naturally, the nerves raised a little as he started to question himself in his head. After a few seconds, he straightened up and prepared for what the captain had to say.

”..Come in ensign. I have a meeting to get too so I will make this short but sweet.” She said.

”..My last chief of security got reassigned at the last moment here. I need to ask if you are willing to step up as the new chief of security for our mission?” She asked.
