<snip>Allison’s empathic abilities filled with Starr’s pleasant memory and then his sadness and she slowed her pace, narrowing avoiding running into the ensign as he had slowed and then picked up his pace again. A sympathetic frown filled her face as she put a hand on his shoulder to stop him as he was about to go past her. “Do you want to talk about it?” she asked, gently.
Lieut (j.g.) Devlin, COS
Simon shrugged “Not really much to say at the moment, I guess,” he replied. “It’s been a while since that happened, and well - that’s gonna be the case until I know what’s happened. However long that takes,” he said, picking the pace back up and catching up. “It’s more the case of not knowing what happened, more than anything else, ya know?” he asked rhetorically.
Ensign Simon Starr, Security
Even though the question was rhetorical, Allison nodded in agreement. “I understand completely… ambiguity is the worst,” she affirmed. “Do you want to keep running or are you ready to say we’ve earned our next meal and maybe some dessert to go with it?”
Lieut (j.g.) Devlin, COS
Simon nodded, “I can agree with that,” he said as he chuckled slightly. “And I’m starting to feel a little bit hungry, gotta get some nutrition as well,” he replied to the chief’s question. “Your decision in the end, chief - if you think we’ve done enough training today,” he commented.
Ensign Simon Starr, Security
“Oh, right,” Allison responded, frowning slightly as though she had forgotten her role on the ship. “Well, I think that’s enough for today,” she said with a shrug. “Do you want to grab something to eat now?” she added.
Lieut (j.g.) Devlin, COS
Simon shook his head and gave a slight smile as Allison frowned as she answered. “If we’re done, I wouldn’t mind getting something to eat before the next shift starts, ma’am,” he responded to the question.
Ensign Simon Starr, Security
“Let’s do it,” Allison replied, cheerfully, her frown long forgotten. “The lounge or something here?” she queried.
Lieut (j.g.) Devlin, COS
Simon thought for a moment and nodded, “We’ll make it the lounge, get somewhere else on the ship for a bit,” he responds, taking a look around the beach one more time, at least the simulation of one anyway.
Ensign Simon Starr, Security
Allison nodded and, after also giving the beach one final look, ordered: =/\= Computer, end program. =/\=
The beautiful setting of the sand and the water instantaneously faded out to the drabness of the default holodeck as Allison made her way to the entrance of the room. Looking at her sweaty appearance for a few moments, she glanced at Starr and then shrugged internally. It was just dinner with a coworker, so she didn’t feel the need to stop back at her quarters to get a little more tidy looking.
“Ready?” she inquired, pausing at the door such that they could make their way to the lounge.
