Lieutenant Waryn stepped in, despite himself.

“Captain, I know the thought of any sort of time displacement is worrying, but between the information you’ve received since our arrival and the fact that you have less than an hour to evacuate your ship, I think you can agree that getting your crew to safety is the more pressing concern.”

He paused for a moment, trying to find a way to impress the importance of the situation upon her.

“As an engineer, I’ve learned that when too many problems arise at the same time, I have to prioritize the ones that are most critical. I’m sure as a commanding officer, that is even more true.”

Izak gave Amelia an earnest look.

“Captain Hayes, the lives of you and your crew are what’s most important right now. Help us save them, and I promise you my Captain will answer your questions when the immediate crisis is resolved.”

Lt Izak Waryn - Chief Engineer - U.S.S. Ark Angel

Captain Hayes held Izak Waryn’s gaze for several long seconds, the engineer’s words clearly striking home. There was no argument in his voice, no attempt to diminish what she had just learned. It was simply the cold, practical prioritization of a man who understood exactly what happened when too many problems were allowed to compete for attention.
At last, Hayes exhaled slowly and gave a reluctant nod.

“You’re right, Lieutenant.”
Her eyes shifted toward the status displays, where the dwindling evacuation window continued to count down.

“My crew comes first. Whatever happened to the Pathfinder, whatever happened to us, and whatever temporal phenomenon brought us here can wait until every person aboard this ship is accounted for and somewhere safe.”

Hayes straightened, the uncertainty in her expression giving way to command focus.

“I’m not going to pretend I like this, and I’m certainly not going to forget the questions you’ve raised. But if your Captain is willing to give me answers afterward, then I’ll take you at your word.”

She turned toward her bridge crew.

“Begin evacuation procedures. Prioritize the injured and nonessential personnel. I want every available shuttle and escape craft prepared immediately, and I want a complete personnel accountability report as each section clears.”

Her gaze returned briefly to Waryn.

“And Lieutenant? If there’s something your engineers can do to keep this ship stable long enough to get everyone off her, do it. I don’t care how ugly the solution is. Just keep her together until the last person is clear.”

Hayes paused, her expression hardening.
“Then we can start asking the questions neither of us is going to enjoy answering.”

The bridge fell silent as Captain Hayes stepped toward the shipwide communications console. For a moment, she looked across the bridge at her officers, then activated the intercom.

“Attention, all hands. This is Captain Hayes.”

Her voice carried throughout the Pathfinder, calm and controlled despite the gravity of what was unfolding.

“Effective immediately, the Pathfinder is going to Red Alert. All departments are to suspend nonessential operations and initiate emergency evacuation procedures. This is not a drill.”

A brief pause followed as the alert klaxons began to sound throughout the ship.

“All personnel are ordered to proceed immediately to Hangar Bay One. Ark Angel shuttlecraft are standing by to begin evacuation operations. Follow the instructions of your department heads, security personnel, and evacuation coordinators. Do not return to your quarters for personal belongings. Take only what is immediately accessible and necessary for survival.”

Hayes drew a slow breath before continuing.

“Medical personnel are to give priority assistance to the injured and those unable to evacuate without assistance. Department heads will ensure that all personnel assigned to their sections are accounted for before reporting to Hangar Bay One.”

Her tone hardened slightly.

“We have less than one hour to clear this vessel. I will not have anyone left behind because they believed they had time to finish one more task or retrieve one more possession.”

Another pause.

“The Pathfinder has served her crew faithfully. Now it is our responsibility to ensure that her crew survives.”

Hayes’ voice softened only slightly.

“Remain calm. Stay together. Follow evacuation instructions and proceed directly to Hangar Bay One, where personnel will be transferred aboard the Ark Angel’s shuttlecraft.”

She allowed the words to hang for a moment before delivering the final order.

“This is Captain Hayes. All hands, evacuate the Pathfinder. Move now.”

The intercom clicked off, leaving the emergency klaxons echoing through the ship as the Pathfinder’s evacuation began.

Lt. Waryn nodded solemnly. “I’ll do everything I can to help stabilize the Pathfinder and give your crew the chance to get to safety.”

“Commander T’Varan, I’m heading down to Main Engineering. I’ll need you to stay on the bridge so we can coordinate the efforts of the various control stations.”

Izak did his best to keep his voice controlled, but he could still hear the edge in it. I can’t let my frustration bleed through. I need to focus on the problem at hand.

As he moved toward the turbolift, he activated his combadge.

=/\=“Away Team Two to Ark Angel. We’ve made contact with Captain Hayes, and she’s ordered her crew to evacuate the Pathfinder. Stand by to receive shuttles and tractor in escape pods, or transport their occupants aboard. We’re going to assess the Pathfinder’s systems and buy some time for the entire crew to escape.”=/\=

OOC: Once I get to Engineering (if I get that far), I’ll start by getting an assessment of the Pathfinder’s status and the modifications they’ve made to create the temporal “shield.”

Lt Izak Waryn - Chief Engineer - U.S.S. Ark Angel

Soral gave Lieutenant Waryn a measured nod as the engineer prepared to depart for Main Engineering.

“Understood, Lieutenant.”

He watched Waryn disappear toward the turbolift before turning his attention back to the Pathfinder’s bridge. The evacuation order had already been given, and the sound of the Red Alert klaxons continued to reverberate through the ship.

Soral moved toward the nearest available operations console and began reviewing the evacuation status.

His first priority was establishing an accurate picture of how many personnel remained aboard and where they were located. The Pathfinder had suffered significant internal damage, and the unknown entities moving through the ship made assuming that every section could evacuate normally an unacceptable risk.

He opened a channel to the ship’s internal communications system.

“Attention, department heads. This is Lieutenant Commander Soral T’Varan of the USS Ark Angel. Coordinate your personnel accountability reports through the Pathfinder’s operations network. Report any injured or otherwise immobile personnel immediately, along with their current locations.”

He paused, allowing the instruction to propagate.

“Do not delay evacuation to retrieve personnel records or equipment. Personnel safety takes precedence.”

Soral then turned his attention toward the transporter and shuttle operations displays, examining their current status and identifying any sections that might prevent the evacuation from proceeding efficiently.

There was little point in attempting to command the Pathfinder’s crew when Captain Hayes had already established the evacuation procedure. His role was to identify problems before they became obstacles and coordinate the assistance being provided by the Ark Angel.

His fingers moved across the console.

“Ark Angel, this is T’Varan. Pathfinder evacuation is underway. Captain Hayes has ordered all personnel to Hangar Bay One. I am coordinating the shipboard evacuation and will relay any personnel or systems requiring immediate assistance.”

Soral returned his attention to the Pathfinder’s internal status displays.

The ship was damaged, its temporal shielding remained unstable, and something unknown was moving through its structure.

They had less than an hour.

“Let us hope,” he murmured quietly, “that the Pathfinder can remain cooperative for that long.”

Soral heard the Admiral , he continued monitoring the evacuation , Perhaps Lt Waryn did what he had to, however they didn’t have much time , it was better to evacuate the Pathfinder first and fore most

OOC: Sorry if I wasn’t clear, but I didnt want to assume anything about the Pathfinder’s status.

My last post’s OOC comment was meant to get a status of the Engineering systems and the temportal shield before I did anything.

I also didn’t want to assume we weren’t attacked en route to Engineering. (Not that I want to give the GM any ideas.)

Lt Izak Waryn - Chief Engineer - U.S.S. Ark Angel

OOC: Hmmm let’s see what Patrick does with that, GM time for some excitement me thinks lol

The evacuation of the Pathfinder accelerated as the additional shuttlecraft began arriving, their transporter and docking operations giving the crew far more capacity than had been available only minutes earlier. Hangar Bay One was rapidly becoming the center of the operation, with personnel moving through the bay under the direction of evacuation teams while shuttlecraft from the Ark Angel, Thunder Valley, and Listening Post 47 took up positions around the damaged vessel. The increased support meant the Pathfinder’s entire complement could potentially be removed well inside the three-hour window now available for the evacuation operation.

That, however, did not change the condition of the ship.

=/= “Bridge, Pathfinder Operations. We have another problem. Structural integrity is holding, but we’re seeing power fluctuations throughout the engineering hull. Whatever is maintaining the temporal field is drawing directly from the main power distribution.” =/=

Before the report could continue, the deck beneath the bridge gave a sudden, deep vibration that traveled through the ship from bow to stern. Consoles flickered for a moment before returning to normal. Across the operations display, the temporal shield reading began to fluctuate again.

61%

58%

60%

Then it dropped sharply.

54%

=/= “Temporal field is destabilizing. We’re trying to compensate.” =/=

The report ended abruptly.

For several seconds there was nothing but the sound of the Red Alert klaxons and the distant movement of the evacuation effort through the ship.

Then every display on the bridge briefly filled with static.

When the displays cleared, the Pathfinder’s internal sensors showed something unexpected.

Several compartments along the engineering hull were registering as being slightly out of phase with the rest of the ship.

Not damaged.

Not depressurized.

Simply… displaced.

The effect lasted only seconds before the readings returned to normal.

A second later, the ship shuddered again.

This time the vibration was accompanied by a deep metallic groan from somewhere below the deck plates.

The Pathfinder’s structural integrity indicator dropped another two percent.

STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY: 71%

TEMPORAL SHIELD: 53%

=/= “Bridge, Operations. We’re still getting people out, but the ship is becoming increasingly difficult to track internally. We’ve lost sensor resolution in sections seven through twelve.” =/=

A new warning appeared on the bridge display.

TEMPORAL CONTAINMENT FIELD — FIELD ANCHOR FAILURE

One of the six field-anchor indicators went dark.

Then another flickered.

4 / 6 NOMINAL

The Pathfinder’s computer began rerouting power toward the remaining field anchors, causing several secondary systems to drop offline.

The evacuation continued.

Outside the ship, another shuttle approached Hangar Bay One.

Inside, the Pathfinder’s systems continued to deteriorate.

The one- hour evacuation window remained intact.

The ship itself appeared to have considerably less time.

Then, from somewhere deep within the engineering section, a burst of sensor telemetry reached the bridge.

For less than a second, the Pathfinder detected something that should not have been there.

A second warp-core signature.

It vanished before the sensors could establish a location.

The bridge sensors immediately began searching for it again.

Nothing.

Then the Pathfinder’s internal communications system came alive with a burst of static.

=/= “…they’re awake…” =/=

The transmission was barely audible.

Then it was gone.

The Red Alert klaxons continued to sound as the evacuation proceeded, while somewhere deep inside the Pathfinder, the temporal field continued to lose its grip on reality.

OOC: Ok no problem, I don’t think realistically with the amount of stuff wrong with the Pathfinder that an hour is long enough, they may just need to evacuate the ship, however let’s see what everyone else thinks and of course your the GM and XO so I will defer to your judgement and of course the CO’s

Lt Cmdr Soral T’Varan
Chief Diplomatic Officer
USS Ark Angel

Upon arriving in Main Engineering, the Ark Angel’s Chief Engineer immediately got to work. The controls predated LCARS, but he was familiar with manual controls from a few Academy classes and his time growing up on a freighter.

Familiar enough to make it work, at least.

He pulled up the Pathfinder’s status and saw her power levels flagging. The ship’s systems weren’t able to keep up with the demand, even with multiple nonessential systems shut down.

Izak shifted his attention to the readout showing the temporal shield and pulled up its configuration parameters. He heard the reports of anomalous readings and a second warp signature, but pressed on. He didn’t ignore them, but once he quickly determined that they weren’t relevant to his immediate problem, he tuned them out.

He had to admit the temporal shield was rather inspired, all things considered. A functional solution to a problem nobody had planned for. The Brekkian wished he had the time to dig into it more… but the Red Alert klaxons were a clear reminder of the urgency of their situation.

Damn… two of the anchors are gone. There’s no way to maintain the field like that. Lt. Waryn quickly did some calculations in his head based on the warp core’s current output. At least not at its current size.

He looked up at the senior Pathfinder officer in Main Engineering, a fellow Lieutenant.

“Shut off all warp plasma and reroute all energy to the electro-plasma system.”

The man looked confused. “But if we do that, we won’t have warp capability. We’ll—”

Izak cut him off sharply.

“Captain Hayes just ordered everyone to evacuate the Pathfinder. Our problem has changed from saving the ship to keeping it stable long enough to get everyone off. Kill the warp plasma and let me know when it’s done.”

Izak tapped his combadge.

=/= “Commander T’Varan, I need the forward sections of the saucer evacuated as soon as possible. Let me know when it’s done. I’m going to secure the blast doors for Sectors 1 through 12, all decks.” =/=

Lt. Waryn got to work reconfiguring the temporal shield to eliminate the pylons and nacelles, as well as the forward third of the saucer section. The new configuration should ease the stress on the remaining anchors and help stabilize the temporal shield.

That should buy us more time.

“All plasma is being rerouted to EPS. Warp coils are offline,” the Pathfinder Lieutenant reported.

“Good,” Izak said, eyeing the power levels and noticing a significant uptick in available power. “Now clear all nonessential personnel. Keep only a skeleton crew. Engineering will have to be one of the last places evacuated.”

The Chief Engineer was tense as he watched the field’s integrity levels and waited for Soral to confirm that the forward sections were clear. Only then could he safely shrink the shield.

Lt Izak Waryn - Chief Engineer - U.S.S. Ark Angel

=^=T’Varan here , it’s going well so far, more shuttles arrived from the Ark Angel and the listening post, We should be able to evacuate everyone very shortly , How’s it going down in Engineering? I know two of the Temporal anchors are now diabled=^=

Soral was feeling prettty useless atm but Engineering wasn’t something he knew a great deal about , He knew Lt Waryn knew what he was doing

“Captain Hayes , we need everyone evacuated from the saucer section as soon as possible”

Lt Cmdr Soral T’Varan
Chief Diplomatic Officer
USS Ark Angel

Captain Amelia Hayes turned toward Soral as another shuttle lifted away from the station, its engines briefly illuminating the damaged saucer section before disappearing toward the Ark Angel. The steady stream of personnel moving toward the remaining evacuation points was encouraging, but Hayes knew they were running out of time. She gave Soral a firm nod before looking toward the nearest operations team.

“Understood. Get the word out to every remaining section. Nobody stays behind because they missed an evacuation call or couldn’t reach the primary transport point. Sweep the saucer section deck by deck, and have the shuttle crews report their passenger counts directly to us.”

Her attention shifted briefly toward the Engineering section as the low vibration beneath their feet changed in pitch. Whatever Waryn and the others were doing below them, it was buying them time, but Hayes wasn’t about to assume they had unlimited time to work with. “We’ve got two anchors down and more shuttles arriving. That’s our window, and we’re going to use every second of it. Once the final personnel are aboard, we pull back immediately. I don’t care if we haven’t figured out every piece of this yet—we get our people out first.”
