The atmosphere remained thick with concentration as Starfleet personnel continued monitoring the unstable temporal distortion dominating the primary viewscreen, unaware of the highly classified command decision that had just been transmitted through the secure subspace channel. Vance moved toward the central tactical plotting table with the uncompromising posture of a veteran officer who had weathered more than his share of crises before stopping and addressing the assembled personnel.

“We have received a Priority One command transmission from Starfleet Operations in San Francisco regarding a significant change in our operational oversight. It is with a profound sense of sorrow that I must inform you of the sudden passing of Admiral Erica Archer. Effective immediately, command authority for this sector and oversight of the ongoing temporal displacement crisis has been transferred to Admiral Robert Walter. I want to make one thing absolutely clear, however: the change in command does not alter our mission objectives.”

Vance allowed the announcement to settle before directing his attention toward the main viewscreen, where the faint distress beacon of the USS Pathfinder continued to pulse through the violent chronometric interference. “Admiral Archer’s final directive concerning the Pathfinder was unequivocal. Those people are not historical artifacts, regardless of how long they have been displaced from our present.

They are Starfleet personnel, and they are still alive. Our priority remains bringing them home.” His expression hardened with the quiet determination of an officer who understood that grief could not be permitted to interfere with the work still required of them. “Captain T’Nara remains the Mission Commander for this operation. Listening Post 47 will continue providing the ArkAngel with every available sensor feed, temporal telemetry, computational resource, and logistical capability at our disposal. Whatever has happened to our command structure, the Pathfinder remains our objective, and we will continue the recovery operation.”

With the station’s command structure and mission parameters firmly established, Vance’s attention shifted toward Captain T’Nara and the ArkAngel’s senior staff. The mission had lost one of its strongest advocates, and a new admiral now stood at the top of its chain of command, but for the officers standing beneath the glow of the viewscreen, one fact remained unchanged: somewhere inside that temporal distortion, the crew of the USS Pathfinder was waiting for Starfleet to bring them home.

She then looked at Vance. “Let’s continue this operation and get those people home. Alright folks let’s go ahead send that probe out immediately and also Ms. Kelley inform the away team to get ready. We need to get them going as soon as possible. Activate the tractor beam and hope to get this ship and crew back safely.” She ordered everyone to get back to work.
