Alex Becket wasn’t sure what to do at this moment as this last mission was his last. He then sighed a little bit as he was sitting in his captain’s chair. He had looked around the ship and seen everyone working and was very proud of each and every single one of them. He was very pleased to have an executive officer at his side. His crew had been the most helpful in times like these, when Command sends them on a mission involving diplomatic ties or something similar. However, he looked up from his pad on his chair. “Mr. Storm. Plot a course back to Starbase 243, maximum warp.” Captain Becket had said.

He thought to himself teaching at the academy is a blessing I shouldn’t worry about the new commanding officer. She’ll do fine. He thought to himself. He was still unsure about leaving the ship to someone who hadn’t commanded Starfleet officers. But he knows that his ship will be in good hands. He looked over at his First Officer “Number one, you have the bridge. I’ll be in my quarters packing everything.” He stated to Charlotte. As he knows that she is the most well-trusted officer on board. Let alone everyone else on board. They’ve all made a career out of everything that has made them the best of the best. He just thought that it was best to move on.

Charlotte looked up from the operations display at the captain’s words, meeting his gaze with a composed nod.

“Aye, Captain. I have the bridge.”

She watched him for a moment, recognizing that beneath his calm professionalism was the weight of saying goodbye to a command that had defined a chapter of his career. It was not a moment she intended to cheapen with unnecessary sentiment.

“I’ll see that we make good time to Starbase 243,” she said evenly. “You can leave the ship to me.”

As Captain Becket rose from his chair, Charlotte stepped forward to stand beside the center seat, waiting until he had departed the bridge before taking her place.

She settled into the captain’s chair—not as its new owner, but as its caretaker.

“Maintain our course for Starbase 243 at maximum warp,” she ordered calmly. “Continue with standard cruise operations. Department heads are to report any developments immediately.”

Her eyes swept across the bridge, taking in each officer at their station.

“The captain has entrusted us with bringing ArkAngel home. Let’s make sure we do exactly that.”

She leaned back slightly, her attention returning to the main viewscreen as the stars stretched into brilliant lines ahead. For now, the bridge—and the responsibility that came with it—was hers.

Lieutenant J.G. Lovejoy had chimed in via comms. “Sorry to interrupt commander. Engineering has been keeping up with everything. With things happening, we’ve been busy as of late. However, I do concur with Lieutenant Waryn with what he has said. We have had people wanting to leave the ship for some time. I’ve overheard the number of members willing to leave. Other than that nothing else from me commander. Engineering out.”

Lieutenant Lovejoy went back to work in engineering and just kept working.

Here’s Charlotte Kelley’s reply, speaking only for her.

Charlotte listened quietly as Lieutenant Lovejoy’s report came through the bridge speakers. When the transmission ended, she pressed the communications control on the arm of the captain’s chair.

“Thank you, Lieutenant. I appreciate the update.”

She paused briefly before continuing.

“I know Engineering has been carrying a heavy workload, and I appreciate the professionalism you and your team have shown throughout these recent events. Continue maintaining ship readiness as we make our way to Starbase 243.”

Her tone remained calm but reassuring.

“As for the concerns you’ve raised, I’ve heard them as well. Change often brings uncertainty, and it’s understandable that some members of the crew are considering their futures. Once we’re safely at the starbase, everyone will have the opportunity to make those decisions through the proper channels.”

She gave a slight nod to herself before ending the transmission.

“Keep up the excellent work, Lieutenant. Bridge out.”

Storm Looked up from the helm “commander” he said ” i know people are worried about wanting to get off the ship but if i may offer a bit of advice i personally believe we should enjoy our time onboard the ark angel before we make those choices”
