Ensign Holly Combs held her posture as she entered the office, keeping her movements controlled and economical. Her eyes briefly tracked the layout of the room—exit points, console placement, and the Chief of Security’s position—before settling forward.

“Ensign Combs reporting for duty, sir,” she stated again, tone even and professional.

She did not fidget. She did not glance away.

Her hands remained clasped neatly behind her back as she awaited instruction, expression composed and attentive, ready to receive assignment or evaluation without hesitation.

Ollie glanced up from his desk as the new ensign entered his office and gave a smile.

“Ensign Combs, welcome to the Ark Angel, please have a seat,” he gestured to one of the chairs across from him. “How are you finding things so far? All settled into your quarters?”

Ensign Combs stepped forward and took the offered seat, sitting with a straight-backed posture that still carried the unmistakable look of a recent Academy graduate.
“Yes, sir. I got settled in without any problems. My quarters are comfortable, and I’ve managed to find my way around most of the ship already.”
He allowed himself a small smile.
“It’s a lot larger than the training vessels I’m used to, but everyone I’ve met has been welcoming. I’m looking forward to getting started and doing my part.”
He folded his hands neatly in his lap.
“Honestly, sir, it’s still sinking in a little that this is my first assignment. But so far, I’d say the Ark Angel has made a very good first impression.”
