Ensign Gina C. Dune stepped through the airlock connecting the starbase to the USS Ark Angel with a single duffel slung over her shoulder and a personnel padd tucked beneath her arm. The sounds of a living starship surrounded her immediately—crewmembers moving between duty stations, maintenance teams conducting routine inspections, and the distant hum of the ship’s systems operating beneath the deck plating.

She paused briefly in the corridor, taking in her new assignment. The Ark Angel was larger than many of the vessels she had trained aboard, but the layout was familiar enough. A quick glance at the padd confirmed the location of the Security Department.

Adjusting her uniform jacket, Dune headed down the corridor at a purposeful pace. Her posture remained straight and professional as she navigated the ship, passing officers and enlisted personnel alike. Within minutes she arrived outside the office of the Chief of Security, Lieutenant Commander Oliver Ezeami.

Stopping at the door, she straightened the hem of her uniform and pressed the chime.

When the summons came, she stepped inside and came to attention before the desk.

“Ensign Gina C. Dune, reporting aboard as ordered, sir.”

She offered the transfer padd containing her service record.

“Assigned to the Security Department. Ready for duty.”
