Becket took a seat and smiled at the Governor. “Very well, Governor. Thank you for allowing us to take some leave. Most of the people who have overseen the supplies for you and your people should be getting done by now.” He said. “I also wanted to say thank you for allowing myself and my crew to take some R&R here on the planet surface.” He added.

Cross took his own seat in one of the chairs and sat quietly, studying the Governor. As he had seen on the bridge when they had first spoken to him, he seemed entirely open and honest. He carried his authority with the colony with unassuming grace and warmth for the people around him.

Soral took one of the offered seats and directed his attention to the exchange between the Captain and the Governor.

He listened in silence, analyzing the structure of the dialogue—measured tone, deliberate phrasing, and the careful balance between assertion and concession. Diplomatic discourse, he observed, relied less on efficiency and more on stability, where each word carried calculated weight. While not purely logical in form, such interactions were effective in maintaining cooperative relations between differing parties.

Becket sat there thinking and awaiting what the governor will say. However, he knows for a fact that with his crew will have a good time on leave until said otherwise. “Governor. I would like to at least have everyone to have up 3 to 4 days of R&R. I know it’s a good idea.” He smiled.

Cross looked over at the Governor as they awaited his response. He noted Soral studying the Governor as well. He himself would be interested to hear Soral’s thoughts. He wondered how a Vulcan diplomat would decipher a man like the Governor.

The Governor smiled again, “..Of course Captain! We’re happy to extend our colony’s events to your crew Captain. Though I would ask if by tomorrow morning you and your ship and crew would check up on some nearby system activity we picked up on long range scans. We only have a handful of long range warp capable vessels in our possession but none really I would want to send into potential danger.” he said, sliding over a PADD.

Once the Captain would pick it up he would see some scans outlining some various energy patterns, “..We believe those energy pattern bursts were indicative of weapons fire of some kind. The system is unclaimed, and only be briefly scanned a few years back by probes from Starfleet. Our own regional probes we sent out two days ago when we picked these up ran into an undetected ion storm and were thrown off course and disabled. Its not a big loss, we’ve already recovered the probes and can fix them, but I’m concerned about the readings, and would feel safer having you check up on it for us?” he asked.

Becket sat there wondering to himself. “Very well, we can check on this once R&R is completed here. It’s not like we’ve been in things any rougher than that.” He would say to the governor. “However, we were sent here to rest up a bit and being down your supplies. But I can contact Starfleet about this system you are giving me and get authorization from Command to do so.” He added.

Soral had no personal requirement for rest and recreation; such measures were unnecessary for maintaining his own efficiency. However, he was not operating in isolation. The crew’s well-being was a contributing factor to overall mission effectiveness, and ignoring that variable would be illogical.

He would have preferred to begin a systematic survey of the surrounding star system. However, he assessed that such a proposal would receive limited support under the current circumstances. The needs of the many, in this instance, favored reprieve over productivity.

He remained silent.
