Hello JerKir reporting for duty

Lt J.G. Izak Waryn felt awkward standing in the transporter room. It was like he was back in the academy, waiting for test scores to be posted. His mind kept going to his check-in with Lt O’Nell. He was sure most department heads had newly reported officers come to them and didn’t wait around in the transporter room. But Izak wanted to make a good impression.

This is the first new Ensign I’ll be checking in since becoming Chief Engineer… It’s kind of a big deal. Right?

Izak was taller than average with a lean athletic build. He had dark green eyes and a blonde, side-swept undercut that was actually neatly combed for a change. He stood there with a PADD in his hand as he glanced awkwardly at the transporter technician from time to time… until the new arrival finally beamed in.

Lt Waryn gave what he hoped was a professional and welcoming smile. “Ensign Jerkir, I presume? I’m your Chief Engineer, Lt Izak Waryn. Welcome to the Ark Angel.” Izak stepped forward and extended a hand in greeting.
