[snip]The viewscreen dimmed then came alight again, showing in the background a common oval shaped colonial admin office, the background had a large bubble window looking out to a distant mountain side with the faintest tips of snow and cloud cover with lower areas sliding down to ground level out of sight hinting at lush forests. The main focus though was a mid-40 year old man in his mid to late 40s. He had a mix of slightly grey-brown hair tied back into a short stubby ponytail. His brown eyes were usual for a human, but a deep scar from his left lower eye down to just above his neck was evident. Given the depth it was probably from some dangerous predator, whether on this planet or another and how long ago it was couldn’t be told. Then man wore a simple forest green-brown tunic and long shirt with what seemed a similar color toned pair of jeans. The left shoulder chest area held a symbol of colonial office affairs with the civilian rank equivalent to a Starfleet Commodore, though they normally held no formal authority over Starfleet officers it was commonly least afforded them basic curiosity given their services and time in colony affairs. =/\= Greetings, Captain Becket, and the rest of the Ark Angel! =/\= the man said by introduction, his voice was a smooth deep quality to it that commanded attention or notice from hearing it. =/\= I am colony Governor of Sal III, James Jones.=/\= He said. =/\= I hope your trip out to our neck of space was without troubles. While we’re not out on the furthest of frontiers we are getting there, and given this we’ve had a few less lawful elements spring up over time, though nothing too recently. In either case our cargo facilities are ready to beam down our supplies upon your linking our systems, should speed things up nicely. =/\= He said.
The NE at comms then spoke up, “..Captain the colony transport network has an open invitation for us to link so they can more quickly beam the largest and bulk crates down when we’re ready..” he said.
After the pause the Governor continued, =/\= If you feel up to it I’d like to offer you and your crew an invitation planet side to our humble abode, they are welcome to partake of any of our entertainment facilities, events, and if they like welcome meal of their choice. We got some of the best barbeque for light years around if I do say so myself! We also recently collected our quarterly harvest so all the food and drinks will be fresh made nothing replicated! =/\= He said with a bright smile. =/\= You and any of your senior staff are further welcome to join me this evening at the main banquet at the table head as guests of honor. What do you say? =/\= he asked.
GM CockRoach
He smiled at the Governor. =/\=The trip wasn’t out of the way. It was a worth while. =/\= he said. =/\= We will be honored to have dinner with you guys. Say 20:00 hours?=/\= He asked the Governor.
Captain Alex Becket Commanding Officer U.S.S. Ark Angel
As the Captain spoke with the Governor, Yoshida gave a nod to the ensign to give him the okay to begin beaming down the supplies. From the sounds of it, it seemed that, once the cargo was off loaded, the rest of this mission should be more akin to shore leave. While Shinichi had been prepared for further duties for the crew while they were at Sal III, he didn’t mind getting to tell them to take some R&R instead.
Commander Yoshida Executive Officer
Izak mentally added malware scans to his ‘to do list’ for when the mission was over. After linking our systems with theirs, Commander O’Nell is definitely going to have us scrub our systems. It was unlikely that the colony had security standards anywhere near those of Starfleet, let alone the Chief Engineer’s.
Lt Waryn listened in on the Ops Manager as they got estimates for how long it would take to offload all the cargo. Ops seemed a hectic job at times… and not unlike balancing the power requirements of the ship’s systems. The best possible answer was a moving target.... one that changed depending on what the ship was doing the time.
He wasnt sure what most of the crew thought about the option of attending the party, but Izak had no desire to go to the surface. _Not tonight at least._He would be going to sleep in the afternoon to wake up for Gamma shift later that night.
But if we stay here long enough… I’m definitely going to get some of thst barbecue.
Lt J.G. Izak Waryn - Engineering Officer - U.S.S. Ark Angel
O’Nell was going over the vessel data system to make sure the security system and firewall were still working he didn’t like non star Fleet equipment, being plugged in to the vessel power supply.
Lt. Commander Riley O’Nell (CE)
Cross himself sat quietly, studying the Governor and his surroundings. He noticed and heard duplicitous in the man’s manner or words. He seemed honest and open. A politician’s ploy or honestly meant he wondered.
Counselor Alex Cross
The Governor chuckled, =/\= 2000 hours? Why so late Captain? The best grub will all be gone by then! No no, 1800 hours local time here. 2000 we will barely be finishing the second course! Have your crew bring their own bibs and wipes though! =/\= He said smiling still. For Cross looking and listening to him it did seem the man was being quite friendly and genuine in his manners, with nothing to hide based on what was said.
GM CockRoach
The captain heard 1800 hours. He had thought about it to himself. =/\= 1800 is acceptable. Rest assured, we might not need bibs. We have a cultural thing of eating with silverware called spoons, forks, and knives. But we will be down shortly. Also governor, might I add, if we may have some of my junior officers down for some R&R down on the planet surface while us senior officers have the wonderful dinner. They all have been work extremely hard and could use the time off =/\= Becket said as he spoke to the governor.
Captain Alex Becket
Commanding Officer
U.S.S. Ark AngelOllie cocked an eyebrow at the captain’s mention of silverware. He was definitely going the bib route. Nothing like digging into a huge plate of saucy meat and getting it all over your hands and face.
“You can keep all the silverware for yourself, sir. I plan to get dirty,” he chuckled softly enough from tactical for the captain to hear but not to be picked up by the mics.
Lieutenant Commander Ezeami - COS
“Of course commander.” He said, chuckling back.
