It was five days later roughly 0830 in the morning when the Ark Angel had arrived at the Sal system and soon was in orbit of the third planet and colony. The system as described was well established small mining rigs setup on asteroids, a few on the scatterings of moons, various gas collector/processor’s etc, across the system. inter-system shuttles, transport craft, and such were also picked up here and there. There was also five flights of patrolling fighter groups picked up in or just outside the system’s area. Each patrol group was made up of one Hawk class heavy fighter with four Cutlass class medium fighters.

As the Ark Angel finally settled into Sal III’s orbit essential docking/orbital clearances were soon performed for local traffic control. Once done it was not long until the local colonial administration was hailing the ship.

Yoshida was manning the bridge and as they approached orbit, hailed the captain to the bridge. He was walking the bridge, looking over the various stations, PaDD in hand, as he reviewed the mission parameters and the teams he had set up to accomplish the various objectives. He had several security teams paired up with science and engineering details that could be dispatched after coordinating with the administrators of the colony to see where they would like the Ark Angel’s assistance post unloading of the cargo.

Becket came out of his. “Status Report.” He replied and said with a smile.

Ollie stood at the tactical console looking over the passive sensor information from the system as they entered. Nothing seemed too out of the ordinary from that information, though he would prefer to get a more active sensor picture before they got too comfortable. He tapped a few buttons to monitor his security teams as they were getting prepared, per the XOs instructions. It would be nice for them to get some fresh air down on the surface.

Yoshida met the captain as he came out. “Sir,” he said as he delivered his report, “We are entering orbit of the colony and teams are ready to beam down.” He walked and talked with the Captain back to the center seat, “I have several support teams on standby, the first away team I would say should consist of you and myself and the various departments heads, primarily Lt. Cmdrs. Ezeami, Spenn, and O’Nell as well as Lts. T’Varan and Locke. This way, they can be with us to assess the needs of the colony and can relay more precise mission parameters to their perspective departments.”

He sat down and thought about what his CO had suggested. “Where is Lieutenant Locke at right now? May I ask.” The captain has she his XO. “Personally Commander, I’d recommend that you lead the first away team. Take whoever you need. I’m thinking that I should be here helping our junior officers, and also Commander be picky on who you’ll take.” He added. “We have so many other officers than just senior officers to go on the away mission. Why don’t you take a couple of Junior officers with you?” He gave an opinion and asked.

Lt Waryn was on the bridge, at the small auxiliary console right next to Operations station. He was shadowing the on-shift Ops… learning the ins and outs of the position.

The Operations role often fell to Engineers, so Izak made it a point to spend some of his off shift time learning from Piper and her team. At this point in his career he still preferred being in Main Engineering, but the bridge did have its perks.

Such as the arrival in system.

In Engineering the event would be marked by the ship dropping out of warp, and then the team conducting a slew of routine systems checks. On the bridge, the Ops Manager saw everything that was the viewscreen, recieved a flood of status reports from various departments, and heard all the conversations.

So far, everything seemed to be shaping up just as the mission brief said it would. The fighters were a bit of a surprise though… but he supposed their presense made perfect sense given the reports of piracy in the sector.

He was curious to see what would happen when the ship answered the colony’s hails…

OOC: To be clear, Izak is not manning the Ops station. That would be Piper or one of her NE’s as appropriate. He’s just there getting training.

While everyone debated things back and forth the NE over at the communications station spoke, as the hail beep once more indicated the colony administration had yet to be answered. “..Uh Captain? Do we want to answer the colony’s hail? Could be they have specific plans on how they want to receive the supplies and what not?” they asked

After hearing the beep again, he looked at the comms officer. “Yes, please. On screen.” He said nodding. At the first time, he felt good about himself.

Yoshida had just started to look over his PaDD to adjust the teams when they were reminded of the Colony’s hail. He moved around to take his seat beside the Captain to receive the transmission.
