As he left the briefing room, Ollie tapped his communicator =/\= Ezeami to security staff, mission briefing at 0530 outside my office please =/\=He approached the NE tactical officer on the bridge on his way out, “Quick update for you: we are going to be doing a cargo run to an outer colony. Seems pretty benign, I’ll update you after the briefing, keep your post.”
The NE nodded and Ollie entered the turbolift and headed down to the security suite. When he arrived he started entering some of the details onto the viewscreen in the security briefing room: the likely route they would be taking, an overview of some of the cargo and a brief profile of the colony. All things pointed to routine but his mind kept going back to the mention of possible pirate activity. The cargo seemed mundane but mundane colony supplies could keep a pirate ship going for a long time, and what they couldn’t use themselves they could certainly sell in black market channels. The team would need to be ready for anything from ship to ship battles to boarding parties.
Ollie leaned back against a table to ponder the situation. He knew his officers and he knew they would be ready for whatever this mission threw at them. Satisfied with the prep work he waited for the staff to arrive for the briefing.
Lieutenant Commander Ezeami - COS
Ensign Sanks walked into the room after completing a patrol with NE Johnson. They heard the call to be there for the meeting, and paced themselves to finish right on time.
“Good morning, Sir.” Ensign Sanks said before sitting in a chair.
Ens. Sanks, Security Officer
Wyatt stepped off the tubolift, boots striking the deck with a muted thud as the doors whispered shut behind him. He paused in the corridor, drawing in a slow, steady breath. The recycled air carried the faint scent of ozone and polished metal—familiar, grounding. He straightened his uniform out of habit, tugging the hem into place and smoothing a nonexistent wrinkle from his sleeve before striding toward the briefing room doors.
They parted with a soft hiss at his approach.
Inside, the room hummed with low conversation and the faint glow of the central holotable casting pale blue light across attentive faces. Officers were already seated, some murmuring to one another, others reviewing data streams projected above their stations. The atmosphere felt charged—anticipation threaded through the quiet like static before a storm.
“Good morning, sir,” Wyatt said crisply as he stepped fully into the room, offering a respectful nod toward the head of the table.
He crossed to his seat beside Sanks, who gave him a brief sideways glance and a knowing half-smile before returning his attention forward. Wyatt slid into the chair, the cool surface pressing through the fabric of his uniform. He reached into his satchel and retrieved his holopad, tapping the screen to life. Lines of light flickered across the display as he pulled up a blank file, stylus poised and ready.
He rested his forearms lightly on the edge of the table, posture attentive but controlled. His eyes moved from the commanding officer to the holotable, where a slowly rotating projection of their sector shimmered into view. Whatever this briefing held, he intended to be prepared.
