Becket stood there happy in his ready room. Wondered. Since the last mission was successful and successfully brought the away team back from the last mission he wanted to promote his doctor. =/\= Ensign Waryn report to my ready room. You might like what I have for you.=/\=. Becket tapped his combadge and smiled.

Izak was caught a little off guard, but quickly tapped his combadge. =/\=”Acknowledged, Captain. I’ll be right there.”=/\= He waived a Crewman over and explained the diagnostic he was running so the Crewman could ensure it completed if Ensign Waryn didn’t come back right away.

He got into the turbolift and directed it to the ready room. Ensign Waryn hadn’t had too much contact with the Captain since he’d been onboard, but he did know the man had once been a Chief Engineer. Maybe that’s why I’m getting called in? He wants to impart some additional words of wisdom?

In no time at all, Izak was outside the Captain’s Ready Room and chimed the door to let the CO know he had arrived.

“Enter.” Said a voice from the other side of the door.

Izak entered the ready room after the Captain spoke and stood at attention in front of his desk. “Ensign Waryn reporting as ordered, Captain. Is there something I can help you with?”

“At ease Ensign. I am here to promote you to Lieutenant J.G.” He said with a smile.

For the second time today, Izak was caught off guard. The Captain had managed a rare achievement by rendering Ensign Waryn temporarily speechless.

When the shock wore off a few seconds later, the young Ensign… now Lt J.G… was extremely grateful. “Th… thank you, Captain, I’m honored. I don’t know that I’m ready, but I’ll do my best not to let and the crew down.”

“You shown everyone that you can do things beyond anyone. That’s why I chose you to be the Lt. J.G. of the department.” Becket said.

Izak couldn’t keep the smile from his face. “Thank you, Captain. That means a lot. I’ll do my best to live up the the faith you have in me and support Chief O’Nell and the ACE as best I can.”

He stood there with his hand out. “Of course you will Lieutenant.” He said.

Lt Waryn shook the Captain’s hand. “Yes sir. And thank you again Captain.”

Izak was elated as he left the ready room. It was still early in what he hoped would be a long career with Starfleet, but he felt like he had just taken another big step toward achieving his goals.
