Piper had just stepped off the transporter pad and onto the USS Ark Angel. In one hand she carried a medium size duffle bag that had definitely seen better days. She nodded to the transporter operator and spoke with a soft Irish brogue “Can ye tell me which way to ....” She paused for a second and looked at her PaDD Deck “Deck 4?” She asked the slightly nervous looking Ensign…”Uh…out the doors and there is a turbo lift to the left, take it to Deck 4.” He said stammering under Piper’s piercing green eyes “Thank ye.” She said as she strode out of the room, turned left and took the turbo lift to her quarters. Made sure that she looked half way presentable and made her way to the Captain’s ready room, transfer padd in hand. She rang the chime and waited to see if he was present or if he was unavailable.

Becket heard the chime go off and smiled. As he grabbed his cup from the replicator filled with tea. “Enter.” Becket said as he sat back down behind his desk.

Piper entered the room and stood at a loose attention “Lt Piper Grant reporting for duty.” She said as she handed the CO her transfer orders. “Thank you for allowing me to join your crew.” She said.

Grant (COO)

Alex looked up and nodded. “Of course, Lieutenant. I did go over your profile here. It shows you were once on board the Europa. What was it like? What brought you on board? I just want to know personally. Nothing to serious. I like to know my officers.” He said.

“Yes sir. I loved the Europa. But decided that teaching at the Academy would be more challenging and then decided I had done my tour teaching the new generation and decided to come back to ‘active’ duty. I saw the Ark Angel was looking for a COO so here I am.” She said “I look forward to working with you and the rest of the crew.” She said “I hope that I can live up to the job I chose.”

“Well. I look forward to working with you too. And believe me you can live up to the job. You will be the best of the best.” He replied and smiled at Lieutenant Grant because he believes in her and trusts her.

Piper smiled “Anything I need to know about before I log into my messages and see the litany of orders for the double hot chocolate in the lounge.” She added with a slight chuckle. She wanted to make sure that everyone had what they needed to make missions successful and that was often best done when things were done in an orderly manner.

He smiled as she asked that. “How about I join you. I am about to go off duty here soon.” He said. “We can discuss it then if you’d like.” He added.

Piper smiled “Sounds like a plan sir. I’ll meet you in the lounge, say an hour or so?” she asked “That way I will be able to go through the messages and we can discuss what we can get now and what we’ll need to get when we do the resupply shortly.” She suggested.
