Ollie took a moment to look over the obstacle courses he had set up in the training room on Deck 14. He checked some specifications on a PADD and gave a self satisfied smile. There was a section to test speed and dexterity and another for balance and strength, reminiscent of a boot camp course back on old Earth. The lower training room on Deck 15 had also been set up as a target range. Though he would have like to, he did not set up a sparring ring today. He figured he would need to clear it with Dr. Spenn before they all started beating up on each other. It had been some time since the security officers on board had been run through any drills and there were several newer arrivals that he needed to make sure were up to par, though he had little doubt in his mind that they were.

He tapped his comm badge =/\= Ezeami to all security officers, please assemble in Training Room 1 tomorrow morning at 0700 =/\=

Remember something he tapped his badge again =/\= Ezeami to Yoshida: Sir, you wanted to be made aware when I was holding drills. We will be doing those tomorrow morning, 0700, in Training Room 1 if you wanted to stop by. =/\=

The next morning, Ollie stood in Training Room 1 as security officers began to file in and line up. He smirked as he felt the range of emotions coming from his staff: excitement, trepidation, annoyance and.... He glanced over at one officer and raised his eyebrow causing the man to blush when he remembered Ollie could pick up emotions. Ollie chuckled and went back to waiting for the rest of his staff to arrive.

Lieutenant Oliver Ezeami - COS

Wyatt stretched out the stiffness in his shoulders, rolling his neck once as he prepared himself for whatever training waited ahead. Idle time was the worst part of any assignment in his opinion. Sitting around gave his mind too much room to wander, and he’d always preferred motion over thinking.

The academy had pushed him hard, and he’d held his own — especially in the physical portions. Running drills, endurance courses, sparring sessions… that was where he felt most in his element. He’d done well. Not the best, never at the very top of the board — and that had always been fine with him. First place came with attention, expectations, eyes watching your every move. Wyatt preferred being the one people underestimated. It gave him room to breathe. Room to surprise them.

Years of Aikido had taught him how to move with force instead of against it, how to stay balanced even when things got chaotic. Taekwondo sharpened his speed and precision, kicks snapping out before most opponents even reacted. And Kendo — that had been different. The discipline, the control, the respect behind every strike. It had shaped his patience as much as his reflexes.

He flexed his fingers once, then shook out his arms, eyes scanning the training grounds. Whatever COS had planned today, he was ready for it. Ready to push, to sweat, to feel that familiar burn in his muscles that told him he was improving.

Anything was better than standing still.

Because when Wyatt stood still too long, doubt had a way of creeping in — and he refused to give it the chance.

Shinichi arrived intentionally late. He wanted to make sure he was there after all the security officers, but before the drill actually began. He greeted Lt. Ezeami and then turned to look at the Security team. While he lacked Ezeami’s empathic abilities, Yoshida had been around fighting men long enough to get the feel of them. He was looking forward to seeing their performance in the drills, as well as being able to judge Ezeami himself on their effectiveness.
