The captain stood at the desk, reviewing reports projected in clean, ordered layers of light. Crew duty rotations, departmental readiness updates, and long-range sensor summaries were examined one by one, each receiving the careful attention expected of the ship’s commanding officer. A few entries were flagged for follow-up, not out of concern, but out of habit; vigilance was part of the role.

Moving away from the desk, the captain paused at the viewport, observing the stars as they streamed past. Moments like these were rare opportunities for reflection. The weight of command rested constantly, even in silence, carried in the decisions already made and those yet to come.

Returning to the desk, the captain authorized routine orders, confirmed the ship’s operational status, and logged a brief personal note into the captain’s record. Everything aboard the Ark Angel was functioning within expected parameters, a quiet success often unnoticed but deeply valued.

With his tasks complete, the captain settled into his chair, posture composed and alert, eyes returning to the flowing stars beyond the viewport. The ship continued onward, ready for whatever awaited ahead, guided by steady leadership and an unbroken sense of duty.

The crewman had been wanting to check in with the commander since boarding, but he had been swept up with flight control and helm duties. He was a fine pilot, but his new role here on the Ark Angel would be as Yeoman. Sean made his way to Deck 1 and found the CO’s ready room, with the CO waiting.

When he was allowed entry, Sean entered and came to a salute. “Sir, Crewman Sean Moore belatedly reporting, sir.”

He smiled. “At ease I don’t need my Yeoman straining anything. Please have a seat. I heard you wanted to come in and see. What can I do you for?” Alex said with a smile. “Also, Sean no need to be formal in here.” He added.

“Thank you, sir.” Sean was not comfortable being quite so casual. That’d take him a while to become that comfortable. “I just wanted to check-in.” He sat down as offered.

“I did so with the helm department since I am doing some helm work for them,” continued the crewman. “But I thought it prudent to make sure the command staff didn’t have other tasks and duties for me.” He became a bit more relaxed as he soaked in the room, his normal smily face returning.
