Evan sat alone in his quarters, the remains of a grilled cheese and tomato soup set neatly aside on the small table near the viewport. Nothing elaborate — just familiar, comforting, and practical. He preferred it that way.

He gathered the empty dishes and fed them into the replicator’s reclaim slot, watching absently as the space cleared itself. For a moment, he lingered, eyes drifting to the stars beyond the glass. Starfleet had cleared him medically and psychologically; there was no requirement for further evaluation now that he was civilian. No obligation. No orders.

Still, old habits had a way of sticking.

He checked the time, reached for his jacket, and stepped out into the corridor. The walk to counselling services was quiet, uneventful — another reminder that this was a choice, not an assignment. When he reached the door, he straightened his jacket more out of habit than necessity.

Evan raised a hand and pressed the chime.

He waited.

Cross looked up when the chime rang and sat down the padd he had been reviewing before rising from his desk. Moving to the door he nodded to the young, bearded civilian man who stood outside his door. With a quick, professional visual assessment he noted the man was relaxed but still looked the ex security officer he was. The man was larger than Cross but he did not feel intimidated.
“Mr. Calder, please come in.” Cross said as he led the other man to the recessed sitting area where a sectional and two wing chairs sat. “Make yourself comfortable, would you like something to drink?” He asked as he headed toward the replicator on the wall in the corner between the recessed sitting area and his desk.

“Good Afternoon” Evan began by saying, entering the office and taking a seat. “I’ll take a cranberry juice please, anymore caffeine today and I’ll jump to warp” he went on to say sitting and waiting for his drink.
