Ollie made his way quickly from his quarters to the turbolift.

“Bridge” he ordered as he stepped inside the lift.

The trip up a few decks was quick and he stepped out onto the bridge and paused a moment to take in the scene. He let the sounds of the consoles and computers, the conversations of the bridge crew and their emotions, which he could feel from his half Betazoid heritage, wash over him. Ahead of him he saw the tactical and security consoles, his consoles, and he smiled to himself. Of course, he had manned those stations before but now they were his.

Turning, Ollie made his way over the ready room door, pressed the chime to announce himself and waited.

Captain Becket heard the chime to his ready room and said to himself. “Ah my new Security Chief.” He said below his breath. “Come.” Alex said as he reached to his cup of coffee on his desk.

Ollie stepped in when called and, not know what sort of CO Captain Becket was, decided to play it safe and came to attention.

“Lieutenant Junior Grade Oliver Ezeami reporting for duty, sir” he stated crisply, “I have orders to be the Chief of Security on this vessel.”

Hearing those words come out of his mouth brought a slight hint of a smile to his face and he waited expectantly for what was to come next.

Becket smiled. “As you were I don’t need you passing out on your first day. Would you like to have something to drink? Tea? Water? Or coffee?” Becket asked. “Also, I’ve seen your service record. Very exemplary. Looks like your a good officer so tell me the USS Ogawa? I’m impressed. It’s a medical vessel.” He said with a smile. “Oh please. Have a seat.” Becket added.

Ollie relaxed and took the seat offered.

“No thank you,” he said, declining the offer of a drink. “Thank you for the kind words, I worked really hard to do my best. The Ogawa was really great for a first post. It was a little boring at times if I’m honest since we were doing a lot of humanitarian work but also sometimes there were some precarious situations we had to rescue people from. I learned a lot there, but I was definitely excited when the opportunity came up the transfer here as chief.”

He relaxed back into the chair a little bit.

He smiled at the Lieutenant’s response and nodded. “Well, of course. I am honestly just grateful that I have a new Chief of Security. Please do tell me more about your last posting and whatever else I need to know. I’m not too picky about anything. Just want to know who I’m working with,” He added

“Well, like I said, I learned a lot on Ogawa. Honed a lot of my skills. I’ve worked a lot on various martial arts disciplines and I’m a surfer which helps too. I’ve qualified with multiple hand weapons too. I’m really grateful for my time there and the officers above me. It just seemed like the time to take that foundation and explore other opportunities. Otherwise, I would probably still be there,” he shifted a bit in his chair, thinking back on some of the fond memories, the people he had met, the interesting science experiments that had happened on the ship.

“In terms of non work things, I’m sure you’ve perused my file but I grew up in Hawai’i on Earth. My mother is from Betazed and my father is from Trill. They ended up on Earth after the Dominion War and I guess fell in love with the islands. Dad is a scientist and mom sort of just does whatever feels right to her in the moment. I think I follow more of her free spirit really, which led to some… um… adventures when I was younger,” his eyes took on a mischievous glint as he thought of some of those adventures. “I cleaned up my act when I went to the Academy, but I still like to have fun.”

He had sat there pondering and absorbing all the new details that Ezeami had said to him. “Very well. Hearing all that allowing you on board makes you the most qualified officer here on board. Also, one other thing.” Captain Becket had stopped for a moment and slid a pad to Lieutenant Ezeami. As of course he is the Chief of security. “This is the mission we’re doing we need our security chief on this mission as well. Part of the away team once we arrive at starbase 342.” Captain Becket had finally said as the words were sort of stuck in his mind.

Ollie took the PADD and thumbed through the report, nodding to himself, then glanced back up to the captain.

“Sir, I think we are going to need more than just me to accompany the away team. I would recommend we send a full security team down, armed with rifles. And I would recommend the rest of the team is armed too. We really have no idea what we are going to find unless we happen to be able to make contact with the station once we are in the system.”

“I appreciate the idea. Starfleet regulations states that all Starfleet officers must be armed on any and all away missions. But take a detail of security officers down plus the CMO, CE, and one of our ensigns with you. They could use some hands on experience on a away team.” He said.

“Of course, sir. I guess I had better get down to security soon so I can actually meet my staff. How soon will we be arriving at the star base?”

Ollie slid the PADD back over to the captain.

“That’s is a very good question actually. That I’m unaware of.” He replied back. “Keep this pad your gonna need it.” He added.

“Aye, sir,” he said taking the PADD back, then standing and smoothing out his uniform. “With your permission, I will head down to security and get my team ready to go. I’m glad to be aboard and look forward to serving with you.”

He nodded. “By all means your dismissed Lieutenant.” He said to him.

Ollie nodded politely at the captain and turned to go PADD in hand. He still had several things on his list to get done before things started getting interesting. He left the ready room and headed back over to one of the turbo lifts to make his way down to the security complex.
