The soft hum of the USS Ark Angel wrapped around Lieutenant Commander Alex Becket as he stood behind his desk, reviewing the last of the daily departmental reports. The ship sailed smoothly at warp five, en route to a routine patrol sector—at least, that had been the plan. A quiet chime from his console drew his attention, and the screen flickered with the seal of Starfleet Command.

“Ark Angel, this is Admiral T’Lara. Requesting immediate secure channel.”

Alex straightened instinctively, tapping the console to authorize the encrypted link. The display shifted to the calm, composed visage of Admiral T’Lara, her expression unreadable—as always. Vulcan poise never wavered, but Alex had been in Starfleet long enough to know that an unexpected call from an admiral rarely came with pleasant tidings.

“Admiral,” he greeted, hands clasped behind his back. “Lieutenant Commander Becket reporting. What can we do for Starfleet?”

“Commander,” she began, her tone crisp and precise. “Your vessel is being reassigned. Starfleet has lost contact with Starbase 342. All transmissions ceased nineteen hours, fourteen minutes ago. Long-range sensors from neighboring stations show a disruption in the station’s external power grid, but there have been no distress signals or emergency beacons.” She paused, tilting her head slightly. “Your proximity makes the Ark Angel the logical first-response vessel.”

Alex felt a faint knot tighten in his stomach. Starbase 342 served as a major support outpost along the frontier—a station that didn’t go dark.

“Do we have any indication of cause?” Alex asked, leaning in slightly.

“Negative,” T’Lara replied. “Starfleet Intelligence has detected no known hostile incursions in the region. However, the station’s disappearance from subspace traffic patterns suggests either a catastrophic internal failure… or external interference.”

Alex exhaled slowly. “Understood. We’ll make the best possible speed.”

“You are authorized,” the admiral continued, “to investigate, render aid, and secure the station if necessary. Depending on your findings, additional Starfleet assets will be deployed.” Her gaze rested on him, steady and analytical. “Proceed with caution, Commander. Logic dictates that an absence of data is often more concerning than known threats.”

Ensign Moore had been reading up on training materials and manuals for the runabouts, shuttles, and workerbees under their care. It was not the most glorious of work, but it was necessary and he enjoyed it for that reason alone. As he read more and more, he gained an appreciation for the vast number of craft on the Ark Angel. Down in one of the shuttle launch control rooms, he would be ready and on hand should Lt Storm or other superiors need him.

Alex taps his combadge. =/\= Captain to the bridge. We will be going to Starbase 342 for an investigation. Helm, we will be going at Warp 2 =/\= He tapped his combadge again as he sat in his ready room, going to the bridge.

=^=Copy=^= The voice of James Grey, the current duty officer on the bridge, responded. He quickly ensured that the orders were followed, sitting slightly up, Investigating a Starbase was never good.

Becket sighed in his ready room chair. Everything didn’t seem right. As far as the crew goes, it’s the best they can do. However, with him going out on this one mission as captain of the vessel, he’s ready for the unknown.

The ensign, being needed on the bridge for one of his main duties, made his way there. As he exited the turbolift and made his way to the helm station on the starboard side of the bridge. As the junior officer in helm and operations, he would by default take that slot unless his SO specified otherwise. “Ensign Moore, helm, reporting in, sir,” glancing back to Lt Grey.

As he received the detailed orders, Moore prepped the helm controls for Warp 2 with a destination of Starbase 342. He would be ready to call out a ready status when the captain entered the bridge.

Becket then stood up from his chair and tugged his jacket down a bit. He walks out to the bridge. “Report.” He said to his crew.

storm was conducting his daily audit of the shuttle craft in the shuttle bay as he tapped his combadge ” LT storm to the bridge shuttles are ready if you want to send an away team to investigate.”

“Understood.” He replied to Lieutenant Storm.

Riley finally got the warp core to 85% strength since the neglect. He opened a com to the bridge =A= captain you got warp 7 now. She has been fixed up as much as we can if I had more parts she will do better =A=

Lt. Riley O’Nell (CE)

=/\= Understood Lieutenant O’Nell. Thank you. =/\= he replied back to the Chief engineer.

He had then thought about it. =/\= All senior officers report to observation room=/\=. He said to all senior officers.

“Sir,” stated Moore before the senior officers left for their meeting. “Course laid in at Warp 2, systems nominal and ready to go.” Sean tapped away to send the reports to the CO as was standard, preparing to engage warp engines. He presumed they’d go to warp and brief en route.

He looked at the Ensign. “Understood. Go to warp 7. How long will it be when we get there at warp 7?” He asked.

Sean had the data pulled up once he heard the chief engineer report out on their warp capabilities. He tapped away at his console and had the information pulled up in a split second. “At warp 7, it will take us approximately 66.4 hours to arrive in the system.”

((OOC: Feel free to adjust that time. That would take us 5ly or so, but that can easily be fudged for the story.))

“Understood Ensign.” Alex replied.

((OOC: It’s alright I like the 66.4 hours. It works great it’ll give the senior staff and myself to do the meeting in observation lounge. So your good.))
