USS Ark Angel

Side Sim - Bridge

Lieutenant Commander Alex Becket stepped off the turbolift the moment the doors parted, the soft hiss drowned out by the low hum of the Ark Angel’s bridge. Beside him, Jax Storm, the ship’s Chief Operations Officer and Senior Helmsman, adjusted the collar of his uniform with an instinctive, almost ceremonial tug. The transition from the quiet corridor to the command center felt like walking onto a stage; every console, every officer, every sound was a reminder of the responsibility that came with their positions. For Becket, it was both familiar and thrilling—another opportunity to prove himself.

The bridge crew glanced up as the pair entered, offering nods of acknowledgment before returning to their stations. The forward viewscreen displayed a tapestry of stars streaking slowly past as the ship cruised at impulse. Becket took a moment to absorb the view, letting the scale of their mission settle in his chest. “Never gets old,” he murmured, mostly to himself. Jax responded with a chuckle, his eyes already analyzing the ops readouts and flight-path telemetry from across the room.

As they made their way toward the command well, Becket caught the subtle exchange between helm and ops, the synchronized precision that defined Starfleet vessels at their best. He felt a flicker of pride knowing he was part of that rhythm now. Jax, meanwhile, nodded toward the ensign manning the secondary flight controls, offering a silent, approving acknowledgment. The young officer straightened instantly, clearly feeling the presence of the Ark Angel’s lead helmsman.

Reaching the center seat, Becket clasped his hands behind his back and waited for the duty officer to finish a report. The moment the update concluded, he stepped forward, his voice calm and steady. “Lieutenant Commander Becket reporting as ordered,” he said. Jax echoed the formality with practiced professionalism: “Lieutenant Jax Storm, Chief Operations Officer and Helmsman, on station.” Their arrival seemed to shift the energy on the bridge, subtle but unmistakable.

With assignments ahead and a new watch beginning, the two officers took their places—Becket near the helm, leaning in to review navigational projections, while Jax settled smoothly into the ops console, hands gliding over the controls with a familiarity born of countless hours in the chair. The bridge returned to its steady cadence, the Ark Angel gliding through the stars with purpose. As Becket exchanged a brief look with Storm, there was an unspoken understanding: whatever awaited the crew next, they were ready to guide the ship into it together.
