Tak grumbled mentally as they dragged a too-large bag behind them, walking backwards as they tried to get it up the ramp to the shuttle. Why did they have to adopt two kids? No, that wasn’t fair. They loved the little rascals. Even if Kota was getting more and more independent and needed them less. She’d be off to the academy soon, Tak mused. Until recently they hadn’t thought their daughter would go for Starfleet, but a certain musical group had changed her perspective. Now she wanted to be just like Buddy and the Breen. Starfleet and all. Tak smiled, quietly wondering what department Kota would apply for. She was a quiet, artistic child. Tak thought maybe Counseling. They’d mention it to her later.
And Paku. Growing up so fast. They were glad the captain and whoever was in charge of their missions had been somewhat gracious and send the Ark Angel close to GOK Alliance territory. Paku’s Hunt would be a quick weekend trip. Tak had even extended an invitation to a few of their crewmates to attend the celebration feast, where all attendees would cook and eat whatever Paku hunted.
They finally got the bag up the ramp and leaned against the wall to catch their breath, eager to see if anyone would join them.
Ensign Tak
Science Officer USS Ark AngelAs commander Becket was walking around he came into the shuttle bay. He had noticed that Ensign Tak was there. He didn’t want to seem intrusive to them. He was in there with his pad and looked up. “Hello Ensign Tak. Heard you are going back home if I’m correct. I don’t want to intrude.” He said looking at them and then back at his pad.

U.S.S. Ark Angel“Hello, Becket,” Tak lifted a hand in greeting. “Yes, we are going to my homeworld. Only for a short visit, though. Paku is getting older, and there are certain… um, coming of age rituals that I do not want him to miss out on. This one is called the ‘First Hunt,’ and it is a rather important one.”
Ensign Tak
Science Officer USS Ark AngelHe took their hand and shook it. “Very well. If you don’t mind I’d like to observe this ritual. I’ve always been interested on the rituals your people have.” He said smiling at them.

Ensign Tak
Science Officer USS Ark Angel“That is okay with me Ensign. I’m looking forward to it.” He replied.

U.S.S. Ark Angel“Well then, you had better get packed. We are leaving soon.” They replied. NE Jackson lifted Tak’s back into the stowage for them, and they nodded in thanks.
A few minutes later, Kota and Paku entered the shuttle bay. Paku ran up the ramp of the shuttle and clambered eagerly up onto his seat, wiggling with anticipation, while Kota walked at a more sedate pace, carrying two backpacks - the larger one (her own) on her back, and the smaller one (Paku’s) hung from one arm. “We’re here, Ig’ta.”
Tak smiled. “Alright. Are you ready, Paku?”
Paku looked up from the Padd he was reading. “Yeah. I’m ready.”
Ensign Tak
Science Officer USS Ark Angel“Well Ensign. Don’t worry I carry light. This bag I have on my shoulder is all I’m gonna need. So I am already to go.” He replied.

U.S.S. Ark AngelTak nodded, glancing at the bag. A few other officers arrived (allowing for anyone else who wants to join) and the shuttle departed. The journey wasn’t far for the shuttle, taking the small group from the Ark Angel to a nearby Alliance ship, a small science vessel named the Ka’pi.
Like all Alliance ships, the Kapi had a sleek, organic design, with tapered ends and stabilising fins that made it look almost like an aquatic creature. Once inside, the group was led by a crew-member to a small transporter-like room, and each traveler was carefully fitted with a transmitter. One by one, they stepped onto the platform, and seemed to pass through a doorway. On the other side of the doorway was their destination, deep within Alliance space.
The transmitters were removed, and Tak led the small group to a viewing window in the space station they had traveled to. Below, they could all see Galdor itself. A marble of green and blue and white that looked almost simliar to Earth from orbit, until they looked a little closer at the layout of the continents.
“Here’s home. What do you think of it, Becket?” Tak asked, looking through the window.
Ensign Tak
Science Officer USS Ark AngelHe looked around. He didn’t see anything like it. “I love it. It’s homey and a place where I’d love to visit more.” He replied giving Tak a smile and a nod.

“There’s our destination,” Take gestured, as they circled around the planet slowly, bringing a chain of tropical islands into view. “It’s where my family lives, when they’re not at sea.”
