While after a while in engineering now officially on his own, he had worked on keeping things going and running however he had decided to step away and get something to eat. So he went to the mess hall and finally got something to eat. He had sat down with a pad in his hand and started to look at the ships schematics a lot more.

“Is this seat available?” T’Mor asked, stepping up to the table with a tray. Besides being in an unusually social mood, she also wanted to have a chance to introduce herself to the rest of the department heads.

T’Mor sat down with her meal, and brought out her own reading material. Keeping up with the latest in scientific research was vital, especially in her role as Chief Science Officer. There was still room for polite conversation, however.

“Is this your first assignment as Chief Engineer?” she asked.

“That is correct. Yes. That’s why I have 2 to 3 pads here with engineering stuff. I’ve had to work in engineering by myself because I don’t have any J.O. around.” She replied nicely. “Is this your first assignment as Chief science officer?” He asked.

“Yes. I have been Chief Science Officer for less than a year. I was promoted after our previous department head left,” she said.

“I find I am still getting used to the position.”

“You took over from your previous Department Head. Well that’s good. Yes getting used to something that your not used to sure it’ll take time. But I believe in you.” She smiled as he looked at her.

“I will strive to make sure everyone’s confidence in my ability is maintained. The promotion was unexpected, and the responsibilities are quite different from what I’m use to.”

T’Mor took a sip of the tea she had brought over with her meal.

Becket looked at T’Mor and slightly smiled, after taking a sip of his coffee. “Well, I know you’ll be a great Department Head. Yes, it will be different, but I believe in you. You must always believe in yourself as well. I mean I know it may seem odd.” He started to give a little flirty wink to her. “But you got this.” He finished.

T’Mor nodded, a quiet way of thanking him for his confidence.

“How did you come to be Chief Engineer? Was it a position you were striving for?”

“Well for a while now as of late, yes it was a position I was striving for. However, I was first assigned to the USS Saracen as a junior officer and a young ensign. I had orders to work in engineering there for a while and then had orders to be transferred here. Star-Fleet had found my work exemplary and found the Chief Engineer position here on board the Ark Angel. Never thought that it would’ve been possible but I got it. I, however, knew that it was for the best for me since my skills as an engineer were needed here. So I accepted the position and got transferred.” He started to explain to Lieutenant T’Mor.
