Ciaran walked out of the ready room and walked to the captain’s chair. This will be his first action as being the Acting Captain of the Ark Angel. He nodded to his department heads which were already aware of what was going on and he sat down. He hit the ship-wide comm on his seat and proceeded to say, “Attention Ark Angel crew. This is Acting Captain Donoghuei. I regret to inform everyone Commodore Drudoc had to step down for personal business. I am aware she had been in command of the Ark Angel for a long number of years. We thank her for her service but we will continue with leading the Ark Angel forward and handling the ship in the same manner. We have a good crew. At this time, we will be heading back to Starbase 243 and the previous orders which we had received have been put on hold for the time being. If anyone has any concerns, feel free to reach out to your department head or to myself. Donoghuei out.” Ciaran then looked over at everyone on the bridge and said to the ensign at the navigation seat, “NE Rashford, please plot course to Starbase 243, warp 5.” Ciaran knew there was no hurry right this moment to get back to the starbase in a timely manner. This slower speed would allow the crew to take in the information which was just received and hopefully give everyone some time to let it sink in. Ciaran knew he was going to have difficulties with this as he was just getting use to being the executive officer on the Ark Angel, much less being ready to be dropped into the captions position.

“Understand sir,” Luna said. On the surface, she was cool calm collected. Beneath the surface she was a mess. A new CO after all she had been through. Would cerenity still be safe she wondered.

As Kyle stood to the side of the Security console and saw the now acting CO come across his station, he leaned in, “Congrats Commander, I just wish it were under better circumstances.”

Ciaran turned in his chair and looked at the Lt Anders and said, “I agree 100%. It would have been better due to a promotion but family is always important. Have you ran a diagnostics on all the weapons systems lately? Just need to be ready on the off chance we run into anything.” He then turned back to face the viewscreen and waited for the rest of the crew to see if they had anything to add. Ciaran this would be hard to take in with how the captain left so suddenly but it was needed from a personal standpoint. He expected some folks to need to chat about it and he was prepared for that.

NE Rashford, responded to the captain, “I have entered the destination into the navigation to Starbase 243.” Ciaran then responded and said, “Engage.” Ciaran knew it would take a while to get back to Starbase 243. He was anxious about how many people would have concerns with the Commodore leaving. He expected to have a number of people but was hoping it was not most of the crew who had concerns but he was prepared for anything. He would want to have a meeting with the department heads before releasing every off the Ark Angel to spend a few days on leave on the starbase.

“Commander everything here is running just fine. I just want to let you know that if we push it too hard. We might not want to push it too much. However, we can go up to warp 7. I’m just wanting to make sure we get there on schedule. Unless if you have an objection about it, sir.” Lieutenant Becket had suggested that they go to warp 7 but he knows it’s the commander’s decision.

Tak lifted their head to listen to the news and shrugged quietly to themself. They’d been on the ship for a rather short period of time, and hadn’t had the chance to get much of a vibe off the former Captain. They trusted that Starfleet would find a good replacement.

Ciaran was concerned at the fact it was eerie quiet with everyone after being told the commodore was no longer going to be the commanding officer of the Ark Angel. He just assumed everyone handled it like proper crew but expected a few outliers, especially those folks who had been around for a long time. But maybe this was the way since everyone was professional and understood what was going on. He typed in a few items in his arm chair pad but nothing had seemed to change at this point. He was hoping he would have some orders but he had not heard anything for the Ark Angle yet. They continued towards Starbase 243 but it would be just over another day before they arrived.

“I ran a quick Level Three diagnostic just before we left for 243. The old man taught me it always paid to be prepared, I just hope I’m doing him proud.” Kyle grinned and tapped away at the controls on his station.

Ciaran looked back to his security chief and responded, “That is good to hear that you are already on the ball. I like that out of the my officers, especially senior staff.” Ciaran then turned around and said to NE Rashford at helm and said, “Do we have an eta at this point, Ensign Rashford?” Rashford then responded with, “Our eta to Starbase 243 is 18 hours, 13 minutes, and 10 seconds.” Ciaran then looked down at his padd and then looked back up to Ensign Rashford and responded with, “Thank you.” Ciaran figured it was about 18 hours based on the time which had past but was not 100% sure. He was about ready to head down to his quarters but still had a little time before that.

“Think we should announce to the rest of the crew?” Kyle asked, “Commodore Andone did leave in rather… abrupt circumstances.”

OOC: I did announce it to the whole crew. If you look at the top of this threat, you will see it. I just forgot to use =/\=.

Ciaran looked at Lt Anders with an odd face. He then responded with, “I did announce it to the rest of the crew. I believe you were at your post when I did so. Or did I just dream I did it?” It was possible that Ciaran just dreamt it but he did not believe that was the case. He wanted to hear the response of the Security Chief.

T’Mor remained unbothered by the exchanges happening around her. It was easy to remain unemotional when she didn’t have any opinion of the matter.

She scanned over the readings at her station without much involvement in the conversation.

Kyle blinked, “Course you did, sorry Commander - long day.” Kyle could feel the tiredness creeping over him maybe he needed a break.

“If you can check on cerenity for me. I can handle and exstra few hours of duty” Luna said quietly.

“Science teams report everything normal, Comma… Commander, sir.” T’Mor said, thrown off only a bit by the change but , again, there was no strong emotion one way or another.

OOC: Sorry for the delay in posting. I was going to post yesterday but had an issue with a battery on my RV. I hope everyone is doing well.

Ciaran thought for a minute and remembered, everyone here was a professional so he expected them to do their duties no matter who was in the charge. He was happy this was not going to be a problem. He then responded to Lt T’Mor, “Thank you for the update Lt. I’m glad science is doing well.” He then thought about what he was going to say to the crew next but knew he just needed to continue performing his new temporary duties as best as he could. He had trained for this but it came a little sooner than expected.

OOC: I am going to finish this out as acting captain.

After almost 18 hours of travel, the Ark Angel arrived at Starbase 243. The docking was completed and the CO was ready to release his crew for some relaxation. He click on his ship wide comms on his chair and said, =/\=Commander Donoghuei to all the crew. We have successfully docked at Starbase 243. Please take a few days to relax and recharge. We are awaiting conformation on a new full time captain and our next mission. The current star date is 77094.03. Please be back on the ship by 77101.09. I am hoping in the next 2 and a half days, we will have confirmation on both our new commanding officer and our next mission. Commander Donoghuei out.=/\= Ciaran knew he needed to go check in with the admiral at the starbase so he got up from his chair and headed towards the starbase. He did not see the purpose of transporting over as he liked to walk.

“Gotta love unannounced shore leave,” Kyle grinned as he fell into step with the acting CO.

Ciaran noticed that Kyle was following him. He continued to walk but turned and said to Kyle, “What are you planning on doing while we are here for a few days? I’m on my way to report to the Admiral in command of the starbase.” He then waited for a response from Kyle
