Ciaran was happy his medical evaluation was short. He knew it was not going to be difficult as he had been through those before and he liked when they were smooth. Ciaran was aware the counselors’ office should be in the medical bay and he turned around and walked back in and walked over to the office in the medical bay. He had forgotten that it just changed and needed to turn around. He pinged the door of the office and waited for a response.

Doctor Stacey had been walking back to his office, holding a few med kits when he spotted an officer in command red standing at his door. “Commander Donoghuei?” Gavin asked when he approached the newcomer. “What brings you by?” Gavin asked, leading him into the office. The Doctor placed the medkits into his storage container near one of the cabinets, then gestured to a chair for the XO to sit in.

Ciaran went ahead and sat down and waited for Lt Stacey to sit as well. Ciaran then said, “I have newly arrived to the Ark Angel and I just completed my medical evaluation and now I am here for my psychological evaluation. I want to get these things out of the way so I can start performing my duties on the Ark Angel.” He knew this was needed and it was painless but it was still a pain. He was not a fan of talking about himself. He had always been taught to keep things to himself but had been working on being more open to everyone, including to doctor’s. He just never thought it should be on anyone else about how he feels or how to deal with something but just on himself to deal with them.

“The stigma around psychology is just as prevalent today as it was 400 years ago,” Doctor Stacey stated. Gavin placed his tricorder onto his side table and took a seat behind his desk. “Though, lucky for you, you’re a senior field officer now which means I don’t need to pry into your mind and dissect whatever you say for the next 15 minutes.” He laughed.

Gavin patted the PaDD that held the XO’s previous psych evaluations. “I have 20 years of data that show not one hint of needing psychological intervention,” The Doctor stated. “However, this is your first Executive Officer posting, so I’m more interested in hearing about your leadership style, people management, and decision making in both a proactive and reactive state.”
