Drudoc nodded, “..Take all the notes you wish Exec. I would encourage you to meet informally with the civilians and crew in general in our upcoming post mission celebrations. It’s a bit of a tradition we’ve established over past 13 some years since I took command. Usually it will have a theme we use for those interesting in participating to educate the children who then judge who best does the theme to get awarded a prize they make..” she said.

Ciaran was aware of the civilians on the ship but had not realized it was such a high number of them. He knew the advice from the commodore was sound and he would follow it. He then responded with, “It will take some time to meet all the civilians but I will work on doing that. I also want to start with meeting with all the department heads, if that is alright with you. I like to know who I am working with as a executive officer to help allow everyone to know they can talk to me if they need something. I do not want to come across as stand-offish. At this time, I do not have any additional questions.” Ciaran was excited about getting started but knew this would be time consuming but he was up for it. He waited to see if the commodore had anything else and Ciaran took a sip of his water and then took a deep breath.

”..To be clear, Exec, you need not meet individually with every civilian member, I’d suggest to meet in groups, the ship’s schools often do evening shows or performances in the different grades at times, attending them before during or after the showings they usually also have small snacks or the like letting you meet with the parents. If you have no further questions then you are excused..” she stated.

He thought it was funny the way he responded about not meeting everyone. Ciaran would have been crazy to think he could do it one by one. Group settings were generally the best way to do this. He then responded, “I have no further questions at this time. I look forward to working with you and the crew. I will go take care of my medical and psychological evaluation and then report back.” Ciraran then stood up, straightened his uniform and walked out of the ready room.
