Finalizing his personal log for the day Tom lean backed in his chair and looked over to his closet. He stood motionless while his scrub like clothing hung lose and comfortable against his skin. Opening his closet , he pulled out a violin case and opened it. Then prepped his bow and then let the violin rest under his chin. The bow made contact with the first string holding it’s position as if waiting for time to allow it’s motion to proceed. With an elegant stroke of his wrist a A scale rolled effortlessly off his finger filling the room with sound. After a few minutes of warming up he stopped. “Computer play Violin Concerto No 1. Orchestral only leave the lead violin part out I’ll be playing that” he noted.

The timpani rumbled softly as the orchestra opened the piece. Reed drew a slow low note extending the start of his art. The emotion leaving his heart and reflecting the emotion led by the piece his own twisting into it as it he had been the one to write it. Reed morphed into the 24min piece and lost himself to the music.

As Tom moved into the second movement his emotions fully exposed, the music became a conduit of all his emotion. The world faded away as his thoughts returned to his child hood and being taught to play the violin the hours of time it took and how it brought him and his grandmother so close. How he missed here the strings rung out as the bow danced across them. His body moved in time with the motion of the music the volume in the room was loud and likely carrying into the hall out side his room the quarters on either side of him.

Sage paused as they heard music through the halls, they recognized it was violin at least. It was very beautiful, obviously being played physically and not through a speaker or the ships system. She followed the sound to a door, pausing at it.

It was a really beautiful piece but she wasn’t confident to knock yet. Which just meant she stood outside the door and listened for now, though she did lean on the doorframe to get a bit more comfortable.
