USS Ark Angel

Side Sim - 17/18 Forward - Post Mission Celebrations

[snip]

It was about 9 days after their last mission, the Ark Angel was currently docked for the last day at Starbase 243. As had become well ingrained tradition on the Ark Angel a post mission celebration was being held in the large open double deck 17/18 Forward. As was also common the celebration had an optional theme to it. In this case people who wished to participate in the theme were expected to dress up in some way that embodied pirating or other illegal activity of an era of the participants choosing.

Anyone who did participate would then be judged by the ship’s children crew from the pre-school to 3rd grade. The top 3 winners would get some kind of prize. The idea was that these children learn about history and the impact one way or another that these pirating/illegal activities had on history for better or worse. Obviously child appropriate attire and the like were required.

This celebration of course would run from 1000 hours in the morning until 1900 hours in the evening with the judging by the children around 1130 in the morning. Food, refreshments, and such were provided by the ship’s staff for those off duty throughout the day. There would also be promotions, awards, and other recognitions given by Commodore Andone during this time.

“Maybe I have time to put on a prosthesis,” Gavin murmured as he strolled into 17/18 Forward in his 19th-century Earth Pirate costume. The doc wasn’t fond of the ancient side of human history, and their brutal ways, but he was sure the kids would get a kick out of the costume.

The CMO doted a brown leather pirate hat, with a black feather attached to its side, a loose undershirt with a light blue vest on top, then loose grey trousers, and black boots. Gavin had decided against augmenting a peg leg to himself but knew some would find, interesting, the fake replicated parrot attached to his shoulder.

It was very possible that T’Mor misread the strong suggestion to participate in the theme as an order. She slid through the door slowly, hoping no one would notice her. But for the sake of historical accuracy the outfit had to be rather extravagant. It was a style from Vulcan’s ancient history, about a century before the Time of Awakening. A long, red and purple skirt consisting of layered strips of fabric, each accented with a tail of glass beads that made way more noise than originally expected when she walked. Golden chains with various beads and charms were wrapped around her arms in simple patterns. Being completely historically accurate, her top would have only been a sash of fabric covering the top part of her torso. However, seeing that the dress had to be ‘appropriate’ for the children, she opted to where a white camisole underneath it, just to be sure.

She found a quite spot and tried to shrink into a corner, coming to regret her choices as she realized that the theme might have actually just been optional.

Without warning serenity popped up behind T’Mor. “You close are so pretty” she said excitedly.

A quick glans around would reveal Luna not far away. She was wherein a simple light blue dress. It was nothing fancy and certainly not part of the costume contest. Something in the ensign poster showed she was a bit more on eage then usual.

“The costume was optional?” Gavin asked as he walked up to the pair, “I probably would have put on a suit of some sort, not parade in this sweat suit.” He laughed, gesturing to his attire. Gavin was hoping someone would walk through the door looking as outlandish as he was.

T’Mor had to control herself enough to keep from blushing.

“I was not aware of that fact either,” she said, before turning to the young Cerenity, “This was a popular dress on Vulcan before the Time of Awakening. I’ve never considered it ‘pretty’, but that was the intention behind the design.”

If she was going to continue to wear the outfit at least she could turn it into a sort of history lesson for the young lady.

“‘Irreverent and frivolous’ was the style in those days, in both fashion and culture.”

She had noticed Luna was uncomfortable as well, but was unsure what to say to her.

Buckingham walked into the room also decked out an Earth Pirate. He sported a brown Tri-corn hat with gold trim around the brim of it. A cream Pirate’s shirt with ruffles around the cuffs and collar, which was quite open, showing a tasteful amount of chest. He also wore a leather Bandoleer over his shoulder across himself. He also had on a pair of black trousers, and pair bug brown leather boots.
In short, he felt ridiculous. But if it helped the kids, he was ready to put asides his feelings and have a little fun.

It was just a few minutes pass 1000 hours when the next person to join them entered. The trio coming in were made up of Tel’eck Andone, Drudoc’s half human/Romulan daughter now aged 14, another human teenage girl of similar age ranged, and the Romulan Commodore herself. Tel’eck was currently wearing a female version of what most male gangster’s worth on Earth in the 1920s.

Meanwhile her 14 year old human friend was wearing a similar outfit, though she also carried what seemed some kind of stylized cane.

Finally Drudoc came in wearing a stylish deep green-silver toned dress. Probably some kind of merging of styles from the 1920s on Earth with a more traditional Romulan ideas woven in.

The two teenagers quick took their leave of the older Romulan woman going over to a table claimed by some of the other teenagers on the ship, some dressed in various attire, others not. Drudoc meanwhile went over to speak to the serving staff and seemed to get an update on what was being offered.
