Scans on the metallurgical scanner finally came up. It was made up of several known minerals, or composites. The first being tritanium making up about 50% of the overall pieces structure. But also picked up was the very rare and impossibly strong traces of neutronium, which made up another 30% of the pieces make up. The last 20% was of an unknown conductive metal of some sort which seemed to react to different wave lengths of scans or energy. This might account for why scans on tricorders were so uninformative, as well as transporters unusable. Furthermore, the piece as he could see had done something to the internal stomach lining of the bull on scans, doing some kind of metallurgical/organic fusion. This would likely explain why the bull reacted as it did when they had gotten closer to cutting it out. They were basically cutting into a piece of the bull that as showing links by thin unknown metal membranes all the way to the brain he found! Separating it would likely be impossible without some more knowledge or source of control over it what the metal shard had done.

A thought might occur to Buchanan at this point seeing all the information. If this metal was connected to the cybernetic wolves that had attacked earlier, perhaps it was one vector of invasion whoever had done this used. Now that he knew what to look for, and how to refine more general scanners to filter out the noise the unknown metal took, it would be child’s play to have the Ark Angel and colony scan together around the colony for anyone else or thing that had such an infection/exposure. From there they could probably use a similar scanning method to refine trying to look for wolves and any other creatures outside the colony. This would go a long way to helping the second away team track their prey.

“I sincerely hope so, Sir” Buckingham said to the CMO’s remark. He was still feeling a little shell-shocked at how this situation had grown rapidly in it’s complexity.

Kaden though to himself, ‘This might be the perfect way to track the prey for the other team’. He then said to the team around the create, “All, I believe this might be the perfect way to find the prey which the other team is looking for. There is a very specific alloy which might be present with the wolves as well. it would help them be easily found.” He then showed everyone the read out so they could relay it over to the other away party and let them know what to look for if they are close. Kaden then hit his comm badge and said, =/\=Lt Buchanan to Ark Angel, I am going to be uploading an alloy to the computer to help track the “prey” for the other away team. It should help pinpoint the location and help save a ton of time and keep the away team more safe if we can find them without having to be on foot. Buchanan out=/\=. He then finished saying to the rest of the party, “I do not believe there is a way to get the foreign object out of the cow at this time. It appears to be directly tied to the cows brain. This might be a way the wolves become cybernetic but maybe not. I am hoping we can save the other away team by helping them track down the wolf pack.”

A second later their Captain’s voice came over the comm, =/\= Understood Lieutenant, we got your upload. NE Barstile is analyzing it now and will shortly retransmit it to the other away team. Any progress on the issues with the bull? And do you think the unknown signal and energy reading we picked up was related to this metal piece?=/\= She inquired. Looking at things he could be pretty sure the energy and signal readings were from the bull.

He was sorry for the animal about not being able to save it fully by removing the foreign object but protecting everything else might be better. He knew keeping the more safe the better. It was helpful for everyone and unfortunately ever once in a while, one thing dying to keep a ton of others alive just happened and it was better to save as many as possible.

The two ladies nearby, one spoke up the older one. “..Look if this metal thing is going to kill our bull that’s fine. It is a prized specimen but at the end of the day it’s just a bull. If we got to put him down for the safety of the colony then we do that, no questions asked..” She said. “..So what do you suggest?”

“Of course the final decision lays with you, but it looks like we may have very little choice.” He said somberly.

Gavin looked at everyone, then at the bull. The thing wouldn’t survive long term with the object in him, so there was only one route to take. “Buckingham, we’re going to euthanize the bull by giving it a cocktail of 20 ml of Anesthezine and 150 ml of Kayolane,” The CMO ordered, “Once that’s pushed through, you’ll need to immediately push through 6 ml of Terakine.” Dr Stacey paused a moment as he quickly thought through his order. As quickly as he had paused to think, the CMO turned back to the Doctor. “The Anesthezine and Kayolane will put the bull to sleep, while the Terakine relieves any pain,” Doctor Stacey explained. Gavin knew this drug cocktail would kill the bull, but he was also aware that it wouldn’t feel anything.

“Once the medication has been delivered, wait until the bull’s cardio and respiratory system has slowed to a minimum, then beam the metal out of him,” Gavin stated, “Contents and all if need be”.
