Just as he finished talking Boris got back, =/\= Afraid the object is putting out some kind of interference, I got a partial lock, but likely I’m also locking onto parts of the bull’s stomach and internals soooo probably not a good idea to engage at this point sir.=/\= He replied.

“Damn…” Buckingham muttered to himself.

Kaden looked at the ensign and through for a second, ‘There has to be some way we can look at this without transporting it away. I think I have an idea’. He looked over at Ensign Buchingham and said, “Could we not do a scan on the item with it inside the animal? This might be a less harmful way to determine what it is.” Kaden was hoping this would provide some data and not harm the animal but wanted to get it cleared before doing anything. He did not want to undermine the medical officer as it was no his forte.

Lt jg Buchanan CE

“I suppose we could” Buckingham answered after a moments thought. He was thankful for the CE’s input, the suggestion made Buckingham feel less alone in his decision making “At this point, almost anything is better than risking the alternative” He added.

=^=Stacey to Buckingham, I’ll be returning to your position in about five minutes, once I’m finished with the colonists. =^= Gavin said, finally breaking his comm silence. It wasn’t going to take long for the CMO to reach the Ensign’s location, though the XO’s team would possibly beat him there.

Dr. Stacey CMO

Buckingham quickly tapped his Comm Badge. =/\= Understood =/\= He replied shortly.

Kaden went over to the animal and started doing a scan. While he was doing this, he said to Buckingham, “We should have some data here shortly about what it is. As soon as I have something, I will let you know. We should know the size and composite of the material. It should help determine if its going to be detrimental to the creature or not.” Kaden then waited for the information to show up on his tricorder.

Lt jg Buchanan CE

“We have been able to determine the object’s size and composition - but only approximately.” If you can accurately determine it’s composition, that would be most useful.” Buckingham replied.

He took up his Medical Tricorder and continued to monitor the vital signs of the Animal. The last thing he wanted was this moment of indecision to plunge the Animal’s condition into an unrecoverable state.

Vital signs of the bull were back to stable, the bull was still heavily sedated, since with the unexpected problem coming up the two women had switched from using only mid-1800s to early 1900s era tech by choice to using modern sedatives for this purpose to keep the bull under long term. Scans of the metal were inconclusive Buchanan found, though he could confirm it was putting out some kind of interference which was negating scans, and the ability to simply transport it out without gravely injuring the bull. Perhaps a high frequency scanner and high band metallurgical scanner from the ship to augment his tricorder would help get more info?

GM CockRoach

Gavin had approached the team, but noticed the XO’s was not yet there. The CMO noticed that Buckingham was still tending to the livestock and currently had a bull under sedation. LtJG Stacey had received a brief update from a passing colonist moments before he arrived, so was up to date on what was happening. ” I’m going to assume that regurgitation is out of the question if the size of the metal is an issue, Ensign?” Gavin asked. Gavin was not about to step on his Ensign’s toes, since he’s come this far without any assistance. However, he’ll continue to throw out ideas if needed.

CMO

“That is an unexplored avenue, Sir, though attempts to remove it surgically and via the Medical Transporter have been unsuccessful. What ever this metallic object is, it’s difficult to determine exactly what we are dealing with.”

Ensign Thomas Buckingham - Medical

Gavin paused to think for a moment. They weren’t able to transport the object out and keep the animal alive, and scans using the tricorder were inconclusive but they knew it was metallic. An MRI would be out of the question, and an XRay would be just as inconclusive as the tricorder.

“Kaden, a high frequency scanner or high band metallurgical scanner should be able to give us some answers, right? The Chief Medical Officer asked, “…at least tell us what kind of metal we’re dealing with?”
