Sivas Jute sat in the chair. Sat was probably being kind to the chair, the poor thing was straining under his weight and girth. A common problem since the academy, his massive frame didn’t fit -well not in the strictest sense- in standard Star fleet chairs. Normally designed with smaller humanoids in mind, he would tower above the head rests, broad shoulders and hips spilling over the edges. Needless to say, it was uncomfortable and therefore most of his time at the academy he stood.

“Welcome to your new home Ensign.” NE Jenkins, the pilot of the shuttle said over his shoulder, ” sorry about the cramped nature of the journey. I wasn’t expecting such a large cargo.” He gave an apologetic smile.

“Thank you. Jenkins.” Jute replies, “and do not worry being cramped builds character.” Jute’s voice is much higher than expected almost falsetto. Hunched over he leans and taps Jenkins on the shoulder. “Safe journey back, send my love to the missus.”

With a hiss the door opened and the mountain that is Ensign Sivas Jute steps onto the deck of the Ark Angel for the first time.

“Ensign Jute?” The small (relatively speaking) Vulcan asked eyebrow cocked as he looked up from his PaDD into Siva’s barrel of a chest.

“Yes sir, Ensign Sivas Jute reporting as requested by the academy following completion of my training.” High voice soft almost a whisper.

“Very good. I see everything is in order. You are to report to the Commandore’s office, the chief of security, the sickbay and the counsellor as per your instructions. Leave your bag here, one of the deck crew will send it to your bunk. Dismissed Ensign.” The Vulcan makes eyes contact and nods curtly after the dismissal.

Jute nods back and places his duffel bag on the ground near a anti gravity trolley. He hears the fiz of the atmospheric shielding as Jenkins and the shuttle leave the bay off out into the blackness of the void.
